T5 light coverage question

I am thinking about going with T5s for my next veg room and was wondering about the light coverage. I am planning on getting the 4' 8 bulb T5s. Would I need 2 of these for a 4x8 table. Would 1 4' 8 bulb T5 provide enough light for a 3x6 table. Also at what distance should these lights be above the plant canopy. I would want enough light for proper vegetative growth without excessive stretching. Thanks for your help.

Nice thing is you can drop T5's right over the top of the plants to reduce light loss. You could get away with one but two would be better light.

A 4 foot, 8 bulb fixture should cover your area with ease, probably more.
The bulbs should be with 2 -4 inches from the tops of the plants.
A good test would be to hold your hand under the light as long as you can.
If your hand starts to feel like it's cooking, then your bulbs are to close.
But if you keep a fan pointed at the tops of your plants, You should be able to keep the bulbs as close as an inch from the tops.

Thanks for the response. I believe that if I use 4x8 trays that I will use 2 4' 8 tube T5s. The question is if I decide to go with the 3x6 trays will ONE 4' 8 tube T5 be satisfactory for the whole tray? Thanks

u would prob wanna go with the lumen per sq ft ratio to determine how many lights u need
