t5 fluorescents

my grow room is in the making and i have a fluorescent light ????? for my veg room of course well im wondering does it have to be t5s or can i use any tube fluorescent lights that put out enough lumes. please give me feed back.

Welcome to the forum. You can use 'regular florescent lights' for the first few weeks. I would buy the 6500K bulbs, they are around $6.00 each at Menards. Keep them close to you plants like within an inch or two. You will not be able to get rapid veggetative growth with them though. You will wanat to step up to cfl's as a minimum by that time. Even better would be the t-5's mixed red and blue. The 8 bulb is around $340.00 including the bulbs and will do the entire grow, start to finish. VV

im using a hydrofarm 4bulb 4ft. t5 for some seedlins and its kickin ass theyre on their fifth set of leaves in a couple weeks.
