T 5 lighting question for veg

can I veg 8 plants in small pots with 2 foot 4 bulb h o t5s. Then goin under 2 400 hps. I'm only vegging them for 3 to 4 weeks so they shouldn't get too big.

Yeah, I would say you could. I get pretty close to that. I have 2 15" plants in 2 gallon pots, 4 4" plants in 2 gallon pots and 4 seedlings in small pots sitting on the top edges of the larger pots. So that is 6 large pots and 4 small pots. I'll be buying more lights soon. Right now all I have for veg is a T5 2' 4 bulb setup. I'll probably just get another one of these, one for my mother plants and one for my clones. And one 400w HPS and one 600w HPS for my flowering. I only have the T5 veg and the 400w HPS right now.

Btw, the box that the T5 came in is a great table shelf...

What do you mean the box is a great table shelf? Yeah i am trying to get 6-8 plants under that t5. Just as long as they all dont get all spindly. Those t5s are some pretty cool lights though. Hopefully they work for clones and vegging.

My larger plants (oh yeah, I measured them and they are 19") are on the floor, then I use paint buckets to bring the smaller plants up closer to the light so I use the box on top on the buckets as a table top to fit it all. Your plants will grow just fine. Put them about 3" or 4" from the lights depending on heat. T5s don't put out much heat but they do put out a little.

t5 works great for cloning and veging...i use a 4ft 8 bulb t5...its really crutial you get the light really close (2-4'') if you want them to grow fast if the light is 6''+ away they will grow very slow..

i veg in square pots that are about 5''x5''x6'' tall....i usually have a mother thats taller than the rest so i stack the pots on other pots that are upside down to get them closer too the light...i put a fan on them also to circulate the air inbetween the plants and inbetween the top of the plants and the light....

i keep my clone dome about 8" from the light and not directly under the light i try to keep about 1/3 of the clone dome outside the direct light..seems like my clones do better when the light isnt beating on them..
