Surgery and Marijuana

I have a deviated septum that I was born with and I'm finally getting surgery for it tomorrow. I am going to be put out for the surgery and then after the process my nose will be packed with packing and stints.

A week later after healing, I will go back in and get the stints and packing taken out. I'm wondering if it would be alright to smoke or, since I have a Magic Flight Launch Box Vape, would I be able to vape after the surgery tomorrow? Either one, I'm just nervous because I don't know if it will affect the healing process.

Thank's guys, appreciate it. Keep tokinnn :joint:

sucks but yeah take a break. vape or joints your still inhaling 'stuff' and it could cause complications. Maybe even infection or something...
I'm no doctor but I think it wouldn't be advisable... BUT I would probably have a hard time not blazing after that!
I had a tooth pulled and was told not to smoke for 24 hrs as the smoke could go in the hole, cause an infection and kill me! But once I walked out the dentists office I light a smoke and tried to smoke on the other side LOL

Yeah, dont risk it. How much would it suck if you did smoke and ended up having to go back to the doc for a nasty infection.

Stick to the brownies! :-)

I would be careful with it. If you get bad dry mouth chances are that your sinuses will be dried out, too. Which is a bad thing if you've got a head full of packing. Are they packing with gauze or dissolvable packing? I've had six sinus surgeries. Having them dry out while you're healing can be pretty uncomfortable.

I'm pretty sure it's gauze. I get sinus colds very often and become extremely congested and personally, I cant stand that mucus congested feeling. I usually smoke or vape to dry out the sinuses because I think the dry feeling is more comfortable to me. Is that the same kind of feeling and situation you get after the surgery? and yes, I constantly get bad dry mouth after smoking or vaping.

I understand how bad that congested feeling gets old fast. It's not the same dried up feeling after surgery. While you're healing it could make them more tender. The last several surgeries I had, the doc did not use any packing and I was supposed to spray my sinuses pretty regularly with saline after the operation.

Edibles tend to give me really bad dry mouth so I'd steer clear. I'd really suggest taking a some time off but if you're gonna do anything, I'd hit the vape but keep the tokes to a minimum. I can't lie though, it would be hard for me not to toke up.

If you're having sinus infections pretty often, I'd ask your doc about fungal sinusitis. An ent did surgery on me and I needed it again three months later. I learned the hard way to get a second opinion.

Appreciate the great response Sgt. My doctor also told me to use saline regularly to keep the nose moist. I think I might as well just take a week break, couldn't hurt. I know what you mean though, It's gonna be tempting not to toke up. Thanks for all the help everyone thoughh. I'm sure the surgery will go great!

Also keep in mind if u have a hard cough from inhaling it could cause some damage , or even bleeding, i'd say take a break and enjoy the prescribed meds

Pop a few percs they gonna give you, eat a few firecrackers and get a bigass glass of juice. You'll be good...

Well, today is the 3rd day of my recovery from my Septoplasty (Deviated Septum) surgery and Turbinoplasty (Turbinate) surgery. I have been prescribed 5-500mg vicoden's. I also have to have a peice of gauze taped under my nose for drainage which I have to change regularly. I have no packing in my nose, only stints which I am getting out on the 18th and dissolvable stitches. I am feeling better than the day I came back from surgery. Still a little pain and discomfort but not unbearable. It is also hard to swallow from time to time.

I feel good enough to try and vape today so I am finishing drying the last batch of the sour diesel I have and am going to try it in the vape. I will let all of you know the results and how It goes with the recovery and vaping! wish me luck, happy tokinn!
