I would like to sit on that lookout in Portugal for an entire weekend smoking hash, watching these people risk their lives.

Amazing:

The food is fucking mint there too btw, a whole different level. But you have to be lucky on the weekend you go, there might not be good waves, though since this guy McNamarra moved over there its been a lot busier. Its been on national news pretty often on TV. Portugal has some fucking crazy sea. As a kid i have many recolections of body guards suiting up for action and witnessed 2 drownings. also once with my father it took us 30 minutes to try and get out the sea because the waves were breaking soooo far into the sea and so frequently and so tall! that you had to keep diving not to get smashed, by the time your head was out was time to go back down. I got crazy good at body surfing though.

What you describe is the very reason I would never surf waves that large, fear of wiping out underneath tons of moving water...with the possibility of being held under for quite some time.

The waverunner used for towing surfers is as far as I go on those monsters fed by the prevailing westerlies:mrgreen:

:peace:
