Hello my Lords and Lady's,

Can i please get some constructive feed back about some preliminary COB light ideas?

The area i'm trying to light is a 4x4 with normal 8' ceiling height (so shouldn't be that big a deal)

13 COB - I'm i crazy here? Like i said super new at this.13 cob 4 x 4.JPG

I would be more then willing to crunch some numbers after i get some feedback to see where this should go...

Thank you!

Luke

I think someone around here did some research on how to place the COBs for the most even coverage and it was dependent on things like the angle of the reflectors used and the drive current and a whole bunch of stuff. It seems that because of multiple COBs spaced too closely, you get overlaps of light that create hot spots...most often, the center area being the most concentrated. So, I presume that the best layout would have to take into account how the COBs, etc. are going to be spaced apart from one another and one where the least amount of overlapping is generated.

Maybe consider a modular design that would allow you to raise or lower three separate frameworks of four COBs each so as to allow you to keep the center "hot" area further from the tops of the plants...etc. See what I'm saying'? ;)

For 16 square feet, 500-750w would be recommended. As long as your drive the 12 36v chips @ at least 1050, you'll be over 480 and 12 spaced evenly over the 4x4 area should be perfect. I'd recommend driving them @1400 which would put you at 600 watts. Depending on the actual chip, this should be plenty.

What material are your walls? Closed space or open?
