Guy in my town just got busted yesterday with 20 to 25 plants, lights, vents and everything else. What lead to him getting busted u ask? Well a nosy cop happened to be driving by and noticed a light brighter than usual coming thru this guys partially opened shade. Cop walks up to the window, looks in, sees plants and calls the station, gets warrant, detectives, K9 and everybody else shows up with warrants and haul the guy in. D'OH!

Relying on "shades" in a 25 plant grow? Fucking seriously? Screw internal light leaks until you get the externals covered. How do some people live so long being so stupid? I suppose now hes thinking "I guess that plywood and plastic sheeting wouldnt have been so expensive after all.".

That fucking blows. Hopefully they just give him a $panking and send him on his way home.

Yeah he was charged with two counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, marijuana possession (subsequent offense) and malicious destruction of property for tapping into somebody's power source. $2500 bail.

edit - depending how long he was stealing it he could have to pay thousands

Do the cops have a right to go onto your property, look through the windows, etc before getting a warrant? A good lawyer may get the charges dropped.

Hmmm...that's a little borderline there. So because I have a really bright lamp in my bedroom, that is grounds for a cop being able to peek in my window? And then if I happen to just be in there naked and catch him peeking in my window, you don't think I could turn that right around and file charges against him?

Depends on how the legislature and supreme court of your state have seen fit over the years, but usually, cops have immunity for the discharge of their duty, up until a point of gross abuse of power.
