What's would you guess is causing my plants to die sub? I havent given them anything other than a half serving of Liquid kharma and sweet every other watering so I dont think it's overfeeding

thanks man
60 days? How long in flower? Are you sure this isn't just nitrogen being pulled from the leaves as it finishes? Good luck.

hey there,

I was wondering if someone experienced with super soil could help me out (perhaps even the man himself? )

Anyway, I made up a 1/2 size batch of the super soil and put it into 30 gal rubbermaid containers, snapped the cover shut.

This was about a week ago. Today I open it up and look in...and I see mold!! Little grayish white fuzzies have appeared across the top layer of the soil.

I know Subcool said before that mycorrhizae growing is perfectly normal...but I didn't think it was supposed to be plainly visible like this in a week! At this rate, I'll have a layer of mold completely covering the entire top of the soil like rind on a hunk of cheese.

What should I do? Should I remove it? Stir it in? Do nothing? I'm confused.

Sub, can you advise me on the proper amount of SuperSoil to use for your Deep Purple, as well as, Joey's Cindy99?

This is yet one more Soil Mixing tutorial. This one is going to focus on making a batch in the city while keeping it neat and tidy. First we use a tarp and a sheet of plywood under so the shovel will slide easily as we mix and scoop.

Here is the recipe to make this concentrate!
You cannot grow plants directly in this super concentrate!

6 Bags Roots soil or equivalent high quality supped up grow soil
Note**I am trying a new product made by a local company that contains less fir bark called Harvest Moon

25 pounds Pure Worm Castings
½ cup Azomite trace minerals
2/3 Cup Sweet Lime IE Dolomite
1 Kilo Bone meal / IE 5 Pounds
1 Kilo Blood meal ( I use a bit more bone than Blood in this recipe)
1 Kilo Bat Guano bloom formula preferably Fruit bats
3/4 cup Epson Salts
The Perlite and Coco I happen to have and it will make a better mix but it is not necessary.

First we take the tarp and the Lucky rug and lift the edges to form a 2 sided pan.
So now we put on the muck boots these help me kick the soil around and get it mixed up well.

So lets make a nice pile of Roots soil.
We layer the ingredients so they can be mixed well.

Contuing to build my montain behind the fence I built just for stuff like this

What size are those bags.. so I can make the adjustments to the formula to make a much smaller batch...

I am curious to see a response to Sepsis question above about the mold. Is that normal? If it appears in your batch what should you do?

Also, has anyone tried using Supersoil in a self watering container? I was thinking about making one of the EarthTainer's out of two 5 gallon buckets. (You can see videos on youtube explaining what an Earthtainer is and how it's made) I have noticed in some of Subcools pics that he plants a line of plants in 5 gallon buckets; my guess is that it was done to maximize space, and since my space is limited I have to use the 5 gallon buckets.

If the self watering bucket would work, this would be a great when used with Supersoil. Talk about low maintenance.

Has anyone tried this? With Supersoil? Would watering up instead of down have an adverse effect coming through the Supersoil first?

By the way, I'd like to thank Subcool for his tips and advice so far. My Supersoil is cooking and the seeds I started in the Roots Organics have really taken off. I am really looking forward to seeing how this grow turns out.

Thanks for this thread.
Do you ever add anything like fish guts or some type of manure to your mix besides bats? WHat does it do to the ph?

I have a few alpacas, and their crap is supposed to be fertilizer gold, but I dont know how to prepare it so it wont burn. Perhaps creating a compost pile of aged soil might work, I have enough land to do whatever i want; what are your thoughts Sub?
I have also heard of saw dust being used in a "lasagne garden" type soil book, I have plenty of that already as well, could I throw a little of that in?

sep,

While I'm not using the super soil subcool recommends I did make up a batch of custom potting mix based on a recomendation I got from Uncle Ben several months back. I too got that layer of grayish white fuzz on it while it was aging in some plastic totes. I just stired it back in. I've been growing in that mix for about 90 days now with out a problem. MY thinking is that it's probably part of that good stuff you want happening in the soil.

Sub,

do you have any idea as to how many cubic feet or gallons your recipe gives?
And would this soil be good for an outdoor grow?

Nice, didn't know you had a channel.

My descriptions are a little messed up for a couple of your strains, i got the info straight from pistils site, but one description is shared between two strains, I believe astroboy and the flav.

I was wondering if you had any info stored away on the current line up so I could get the best and most complete information on each of the strains.

Thanks a lot for your time, and if you would like me to remove this post just let me know and it will be done.
