I veg in a 1 gallon. Then I move to a 7. I use Roots Organic. No "feeding" as the soil already has the food.
No doubt I have a few 1 gallon pots I veg in to but the guy at hydro store reccomended the 3 gallon so I picked some up. What if I do pro mix just feed with something organic like fox farm nutes?

Nice when both of you transfer to the 7 gallons do you veg for another week or 2?

I start in the 1 gallon pots with straight Roots. After 2-3 weeks I transplant. The SuperSoil in the 7 gallon pail has been "cooking" for 5 weeks or longer. The longer the better. After transplant I veg for 2 more weeks, for a total of 5 weeks of veg once he seed pops up.

Next time I will be simply re-amending the soil with compost and EWC (a few other goodies) but nothing from a bottle. I have clover growing with the plants to keep the microlife happy and establish Nitrogen. A companion plant for the MJ

Try not to use Grow Big from Fox Farm, it isn't totally organic. If you're looking for something totally organic, go with something like Iguana Juice Grow or Mother Earth Tea Grow, both from Advanced Nutrients. Always look at the bottles and look at where it says: derived from. It should have all natural ingredients like: castings, guano's, seaweed, kelp, crab meal, alfalfa, etc.

So if I'm understanding correctly, you pot into your 7 gal with super soil before you know the sex of your plants? I'm doing a run of Pandoras Box from seed next round, and hoping to sex before transplanting to 7 -gal.

That's exactly right. I transplant before I know the sex, as I'm growing from seeds, not clones. Once I find the males, I chop them. Then, if I haven't already, I plant clover in the soil immediately, and preferably before I chop. This keeps the microbes happy, since they have plant roots to tend to while the pail waits for a new MJ plant

Ah... I see. Glad you found a way to a avoid wasting all that soil on males. I'm gonna stick with my plan of sexing before transplanting simply because I can't fit 10 7-gals in my space while I veg them out. Hoping to end up with 4 females, transplant into SS as soon as I see sex, veg for an additional couple weeks under the HPS, and flower. 4 plants, 600 watts of HPS.

It's either a clone with known sex or you examine the pre-flowers, which is an artform.

you do not need to put a plant into 12/12 to sex it, you only need to veg long enough.the vast majority of males will show preflowers within 45 days.
