Styrofoam Cups Cut Cloning Times

I clone close to 100 plants a year to keep my perpetual grow rolling along. For years I have used 12-16 ounce solo cups to hold my clones in the domes. Recently I decided to try using 9 ounce Styrofoam coffee cups rather than the larger solo cups. I've noticed that I'm seeing roots 1-2 days earlier with the Styrofoam cup vs. the solo cups. It appears that the rougher insides of the s. cups help develop quicker those fine little spiderweb thingies that grow between the pellet and the sides of the cup. Works for me.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Note -- I use the larger 2-inch jiffy pellets to hold my cuttings. I like them because I can use larger cuttings and mostly because the soggy pellet swells up to just about fill the cup. Makes for a more stable situation and I believe helps the rooting process.

not the fact the S. cups are negatively charged?

I've used these cups very well indeed with perlite and RO water

but it will still take over 600 years for that 'Styrofoam Cup'

to rot down, as you and ur plants will be long gone

for that I go the bubble cloner, of which the roots take an extra 12 hours but the roots are thicker and stronger

I have also notice with the new jiffys and Rooters the bottom of the mesh is far tougher and thicker than previously

taking long for the tap root to penetrate >>?
