stupid question

I am almost done with my tent. The last thing to do is hang the light.
The kit comes with a locking rope pulley . One end of the rope has a very large hook.
There are zero directions on how to actually hang this light.
This huge hook on a 3/4 diameter pole seems unsafe to me.
It could easily be bumped and come right off the pole.
It is a kingled light if that matters. The instruction manual is less than helpful.
Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to RIU. Those rope pulleys if it doesnt have a clip on each side, you can get one that does have a clip on each side and loop it around the pole. Should be secure. Heck, I just realized that is what I am doing right now.

If u post some pics would be easier to offer some ideas for your space, I'm a shit engineer, but I came to this after some minutes:

If u're using a kit, you'll probably get more consistent results. It's tied on the tent ceiling with a shoelace node.

I usually attach a zip tie onto each of my light hangers. Like you, I didn't want any slips or accidents. I would put it up as logic dictates and then s cure it with the zip ties. When dismantling, just cut zip tie. Hope this was helpful. Also, they have those Velcro straps that wrap around and stick to themselves. I use those as a third redundant option

Most lights come with 4 holes you can take each clip and by first attaching the "block" side to the light then looping the "rope clip" side over the bar in the top of the tent and hooking it back into the light.
You can also take the "rope clip' side loop it over the bar and attach the clip to the rope.
The point is there is a lot of ways you can do it. but generally if its in a tent just loop it over the bar no need to tape it in place or whatever.
