What would be ideal lighting for my Vegetative stage? I tried the search function, but so many threads it doesnt really give you what you want.

Ive got 600 Watt HPS for my flowering, but would I need different type of lighting for my vegging stage?

Sorry for dumb question and Thanks in advance for any replies.

You can veg very quickly if you use that 600. Although it'd be cheaper to set up a different light for veg. You could use multiple CFLs or you could just do like me and run a couple shop lights or even T-5.

i use a 600 hps through out my grow veg and flower, try to get a high lumen bulb around 90000k from growlux or sunmaster.

metal halide for vegging. the newer models allow you to use the same ballasts with just a change in the bulb. i'm told that you must use the same wattage bulbs. 600w-600w.

would work too but isnt essential. as most hps are dual spectrum.

the main difference will be the amount of "stretch" the plant will undergo. MH gives tighter internodal spacing.

Hey guys thanks for replies, so I could just use my 600 Watt HPS for both vegg and flower yeh?

That was what I was initially going to do, but seeing so many grows using different lighting in vegging stage confused me lol.

And will my 600 watt HPS give me a huge power bill? Theres only me and friend living in the house so we dont use alot of power....

It depends on how much your power costs. Running the 600w for 18 hrs a day to veg would cost about $65 a month at 12 cents a kilowatt hour. (that's how much mine costs)

That's not a huge power bill. You'll be straight.
