Strainhunters! How did they do that show?

So the guys from greenhouse seeds catch a bit of flak around here, but I really enjoyed the strain hunters episodes. How did they do that? I mean make the contacts and go find plantations in these countries. Presumably they didn't just rock up in a tiny village in a foreign country an be like "show us your illegal shit.... Please?"
