Strain question for the experienced

Ok, have a few potluck seeds that are about 3 to 4 weeks from seed, and a few of them have a characteristic intense sweaty musk smell to them.
Can anyone tell me what general type strain these could be from?
I dont expect specifics, just wondering if it is a characteristic experienced growers find any relationship to.

Hopefully you was fortunant and stumbled over some good skunk. That stuff supposed to be real stinky. Used to get a version of that genre back in the 80's and it was a flat two puffer which send you to lala land for half a day. Heard some diesel varieties are stinky too. Never had none. Maybe it is kin to skunk. Who knows? I would take the strong smell as a good sign if it belonged to me. Guess the mystery will unravel when it gets big enough to smoke. Hope this helps.

Its pretty distinct, more hardcore musk than the characteristic smell of skunk. I grow some last year but harvested way too late and incorrectly cured among other things a beginner does wrong. Wow did I ever f up that grow.
I still had some of the original seeds, so I might find out what should have been. If I was aware of this site back then, it sure would have been different... Must give thanks to RIU for this support, it has filled me with foundational knowledge I havent received anywhere else.

I keep seeds labeled in prescription bottles, is there a better way to store them for increased chances of germination?

It was insanely trychomed and just sweaty looking and glistening in its light. I could go for a diesel decendant for sure!
I let it grow wayyy to long, beyond its trychome peak.

Good to hear you are trying out growing some good Bagseed.

Amsterdam strains are just great and those boys put allot of time in effort into them.

However, they are way too inbred in my opinion and the best smoke I have ever had came from a Bag of Schwag that I grew.

It is like a Treasure chest with Bagseed and when you wind up with that one rare and crazy pure female, it is best to keep some clones just to be sure, that you do not regret loosing her.....Been there and done that.

That is another reason that I like to do 12 and 12 from seed, when working with these Trees now and especially Bagseed.

By starting out a Bagseed on 12 and 12, you are able in time and with a good eye, to tell in just a few weeks, wich way the Tree seems to be going as far as it's sex and smell and Trichome production and internode lengths, ect. ect.

It cuts down the time invested in a Tree as far as not having to give it Veg time also and it wind up being a male or Hermie.

Once I find what I belive to be a " Choice Female Bagseed " from the group I will start on 12 and 12, I simply place her back onto 16 to 18hrs a day and let her or them Re-Vegetate to the size I want and then slap them right back into flowering, to reap the real rewards of my efforts in the end.

When they go back into Re-Veg my brother, they will take on a branchy and pretty crazy look at times, but it does not harm them or the medicine and I think they are really gorgeous when they look different from Re-Vegging.

Good way to segregate good Bagseed from more inferior and once you get a few good ones........anything from amsterdam is just Novelty,LOL.

Be Blessed,

Well, she is quite lovely my brother.

If she indeed turns out to be a pure female, you should have no concerns as the medicine should be great.

Yes, I have grown Bagseed that was better than others and some that was completely incredible, but I have never grew one and been all out upset at the results, as they will give to you as good as you give to them my friend.

I am sure that she will be a winner for you, just make sure you let that fruit get good and ripe and do not be tempted to harvest her early as you will regret it later, lol.

Blessings from a Cherokee Brother,

I have them on 24/0 considering I am running cfls til I get the room done.
I am thinking about either two single 600w hps' or a dual 600 w/ larger hood.
I wonder if a 1000w hps and a few side cfls might come in comparable in electric bills, idk

Natural, so are you saying a reveg will end up with a better product than a plant that hasnt been revegged?
