I found a couple of feminised photo seeds that musta been freebies...and I had a bit of soil and 2 empty pots left so thought fuck it....get 'em popped :) HSO Bubbalicious and a Afghan Kush x Black Domina...my first ever non-auto seeds Thank fuck lol .....also my last seeds in soil. Starting the switch to coco after my current auto's are done which will be 5 weeks or so.

Happy days....be good to have lights off 12 hours and save a bit of cash as well.....plus I can obvs control these plants with them not being auto's so this should be a better grow...here's hoping. Can't believe I didn't ditch auto's before! Not that they aren't any good.....they just don't do it for me in terms of the growing process. I want to nurture and control the plant. With auto's it feels like I'm running around after them. Maybe it's just me, my lack of growing skills or personality, they just don't enthuse me.......so, off to a brand new start in what will be my 4th grow. 3rd is on-going in the form of said auto's. It isn't going well with these....combo of different things....2nd grow was auto's again but I made a mistake of putting my LED's (chinese panels) too close. Runty little shits still produced, but let's just say trimming wasn't a long job :) 1st grow was CFL - 2 plants, an NL and something else - and finish off with LED's and was not too bad.....didn't weigh it but it kept me in smoke for a few weeks, and I smoked every day.....all day if I'm honest lol :)

So, the idea of this grow with the 2 plants is to get my environment and lights all working before I go and spend some hard-earned on proper genetics and Coco.........

I'll keep you updated as and when I can be arsed tbh.....let's not kid myself, or you, that I'm gonna be right on it with glorious pics such as the ones @lukio does but I'll do what I can :)

Next update will be...........

P.S. Feel free to add stuff here....especially if you grow with LED and have a sense of humour ;)

Oh and the title is due to the fact that I grow in my walk-in kitchen pantry. 0.6m deep 1.3m long and 1.6m height from the stone ledge that goes around the edge.....hey, that rhymes! :D so it's about 8sq ft of growing space. I'll be switching to QB's in a few weeks also which I think a 260W or poss a 320W will do nicely.....currently got 2x150W (actual) Chinese white panels....I just need to learn not to hang them too fucking close :wall:

Nope. Nothing atm dude...when I put into final pots I will add something but these pots are so small I'd rather just let the roots do their thing. The mixture isn't fine and/or packed down so I think it will be ok for a couple of weeks.....
Your grow, your rules........... just be careful

Good luck

What is that mix?
Quite barky .
As long as it works, that's the main thing. :bigjoint:
I use vermiculite, perlite and sand as ammendments.
Nice loose mix.
Keep us posted!

You should post this in the grow journal or the newbie central forum. You would get more replies and more people that just want to have a nice talk.

Hey, here it is.. the journal. 1st page 'n' everything... Nice to join in at the start.

I look forward to seeing this afghan kush x. I have grown afghan kush ryder (auto version). It's really good. One of the best strain I have grown. The best Afghan auto by a country mile, so I imagine that x will be really good.

Your set up area sounds perfect for two 250w hps kits, or 2 leds like you already have. Nice area, you never get a bad back as you don't have to reach to the back if it's 2ft.

What things have you got then? Do you have a ph tester? How do you monitor temps? Which feeds are you using and how much ppm at what ph? Do you have a pmm tester?

What lenses are in the leds? Are they 3w or 5w chips?

Yeah the area is pretty good, being a kitchen pantry made of brick it means that temps stay stable and that lack of fluctuation is obvs a good thing. Also if I get some pesky gnats I can quickly remove the plants, get the J Edgar out and suck the fuckers up :)

I haven't been using a pH tester although I do own one. I was told at first I needed one, then that I didn't if growing in soil because the soil sorts out the pH. I've been using tap water which I let sit for an hour or so - usually! I reg test the pH of the water and it's always around 6-7 which I think is ok? It never gets to like 5 or 8.
I use 16ltr root pouches to grow in and the nutes I have are Bio Bizz Grow and Bloom, although the Bloom is getting low so will need to be replaced/swapped soonish. I also have Formulex which I use in the 1st couple of weeks - I was told this is good stuff, especially for the silicon. Also liquid seaweed is in the cupboard.

Lights deets:

Full Spectrum: 650nm~660nm, 620nm~630nm, 460nm~470nm, 450nm~460nm, White LEDs
LED CHIP POWER: 300W
LED Quantities: 60pcs 5W LEDs
Actual power consumption: 145W±3%
View Angle: 90 degree LED
Life Span: ≥50,000 hours
Worldwide Voltage: AC85-264V
Working Temperature: -20 to 40 ℃

And here is some pics of the groom and the current occupants :)

I think that's everything @Fevs but if you need more info just holler mate, thanks :)
Oh I meant to say that I am switching to Coco probably after this grow. I need a bit of spare cash to buy all the bits I need but atm I'm having to buy a Q every 2 weeks for £70 :( Once I get a decent harvest under my belt I'll be able to sort out the switch from soil.

Oh, one last pic that I forgot to upload....you can see the inlet vent.......20170612_141505.jpg

Just wondering if the Aghan Kush X is ok for 1 month old? Looks a little small and also I'm not sure when I should re-pot into the 16ltr root pouch?

I asked about the ph tester as you mentioned in the 1st post you may be getting some coco. If you are growing in soil, even better. You don't need to ph, but you can still if you want. I do ph. I think they feed faster. Why wait for the soil to buffer the feed, when we can do it instead?

Bio bizz grow knocks the ph down a bit normally, their bloom ups the ph. I grew with bio bizz for years, but do prefer their fish mix.

Which soil are they in? Just trying to work out how much feed it has in.

I think that plants needs transplanting now really, unless you are tying to slow it down so others can catch up... It will suffer in that little pot.

Imo Free those roots...

Transplant all 4 of them straight into the big pots. I used to do all that sh*t with little pots and potting up. Other than helping the plants root get bound sooner, I don't really believe that outweighs any advantages of just letting the root grow free.

They grow faster in bigger pots, bigger leaves and they still build a massive root mass. I think it will peed up flipping to 12/12.

You need to use your seaweed minerals as a base feed, every feed. I'm using alg-a-mic as a base feed. It's high in magnesium, which the plants use more of if growing under led. Also the npk is very low. I use alg-a-mic from bio bizz, think it's 0.1-0.1-0.1. I feed seaweed minerals to the soil when the seeds are still in the packet.

I have found adding calcium isn't needed, well not a specific product like magnecal+. I think it's magnesium that the plant needs more of, when being grown under led. Seaweed should keep that going nicely.

I think just transplant them all, get them on plain water ideally 6.2 - 6.5. Don't feed each 16 litre pot more than 1 litre until they start drinking it really fast. Follow the wet dry cycle, but don't wait until they are too dry. The leaves will suffer, plus you want to keep humidity up in vegging.

You could do with a fan controller, you can just slow the extraction down nicely and hit that perfect temps and perfect humidity combination.

Spray your plants with water twice per day, they grow so much faster + again it keeps the humidity up.

Maybe whilst they are so little, use 1 led for half of vegging time and 1 for the other half. Unless they both need to be on to make it hot enough in there. Aim for 27oc-28oc. That's just warm enough to keep the roots warm, the humidity up and they will grow mad with those temps. That's canopy height.

Gonna transplant the bigger one today into a good quality but basic soil. Reason being I want to control what goes in it. Don't know what is in it otherwise. I'll spray with liquid seaweed as I add soil into the 16ltr pot. I'll do the same with the others in a couple of weeks when they have establiahed some roots. They are under a 300W CFL dual spectrum atm - at the wall it is more like 100W or something, but they are happy under it. It hangs vertically with a Dutch barn reflector. Just the bigger one is under the 1 LED at a height of 110 cms. It looks fine but I'm not sure if the height, 14 cms is a good height? Oh and I spotted a couple of gnats! FUCKERS!! How do you get rid of them @Fevs ? I'm gonna try covering the soil so they can't land and get some yellow stickies on the walls. I wan't to keep them away rather than having to keep getting rid. I don't think they harm the plants. They are def gnats, little bluey/black things....nothing on plants but I spotted one on the soil, trying to get under so I squashed the cunt :)

Thanks for the info @Fevs I'll look into a fan controller and refer..or hopefully reefer back to that advice as I grow :) Cheers man!
