Let me stop you there and ask you one question... Do you want to be evicted/locked up? If you grow in a house you own far from people out in the country you can "get away" with no carbon filter/cheapo if you do it right. In an apartment the very very first thing you NEED is a good carbon filter. Your entire building WILL know at 4-6weeks in and your whole block will know by the time you harvest. Smell control is not an "option" but a necessity more important than your lights. Please dont go to prison... Thats all i got

HTGsupply has good prices on carbon filters so does foothill filters. Not worth going without even with the slightest chance of being caught. A small price to keep your freedom til it becomes legal..

Carbon filter construction is not Rocket Science. You can build your own for a few bucks, just look in the DIY section or Google "diy carbon filter".

With the thought of going to jail I just purchased a grow bright filter side note I am on the third floor and thier is storage closet on the porch ware I will be growing

Will the carbon filter kill the smell completely ?
depends on the placement of the filter and how your room is setup, if its nice and sealed it should do the trick. Remember though if you buy a small filter dont expect it to remove the smell of an entire 10x10 room

Dont skimp. Three plants need a 6" carbon filter no less. From experience I speak to you! If in an apartment, 3 plants are going to reek when flowering or even before. Get the carbon filter and set it up properly venting the air out of your growing area with ducting. Get the ona bucket and place it in the area you are venting your carbon scrubbed exhaust into, for extra good measure. Finally place lots of candles, incense, and electric plug in freshners further out into your apartment.

Go outside to the park and pickup loads of dog shit, place in bucket in said room and leave to rot away, this has 2 good points 1. you wont smell the plants over the shit and 2. you have manure for next years grow ;)

you need to control the airflow (negative pressure) or you will have smell leaking out of any widow you have open etc
carbon filter or not
ozone works well
ona is useless unless your grow is very small

No, i see folk make a common error with carbon filters
they say things like, "i just bought a new rhino filter now i cant smell anything in my room ,great filter"
this is bullshit, the filter does not remove smell from the room
if the filter is removed there will actually be less smell in the room if you vent to another room or outside because the fan can extract more air, the filter places resistance on the fan
but wherever you extract the air to will obviously smell with no filter
so the filter is only for removing the smell at the outlet or where you extract to

to remove more smell from the grow area itself or to stop it leaking around your house and out of windows
you need a much more powerful fan that can create an overall negative pressure in your house
air will always try to come in not escape

reduce the amount of heat at canopy level (air cooled lights) use ozone
grow in tents also helps to kill the smell at source by controlling the airflow

I am planing on using a tent and I am thinking of only running one plant ( lowrider#2 ) auto y'all think I can hide that with a carbon filter

Yes and dog shit only works if you never want to get laid ever again. I got a carbon filter off amazon for $45 it killed the smell of 4 large plants in a. 3x3x6' tent- still working 9 months and 3 grows later

if you can keep the tent cool enough to keep it closed all the time
so there will be no stray air leaks, a carbon filter will do the trick on its own
maybe a plug in air freshener in the room will be enough so when you open the tent it will waft a bit

if you have to keep the tent open because your fan is not powerful enough to keep the tent closed at 75-80f
then smell will leak out all over the place round your house, but with just one plant its very unlikely anyone outside the house will smell it
