So, I know that after you smoke the bud off a stem you can cook with the remaining stem ( water or oil), but regarding stems that were pruned off of a plant in it's vegitative stage's, before any buds start forming, can they be used to cook with? Does it contain any THC?

Yes you can extract hash or make butter out of any part of the plant. Except maybe the roots as I have never tried it but if anyone has correct me because it may be possible. For sure though I've made many a lbs of butter from stems you just need a shit load of them. Good Luck

The only part of the plant with any THC is the trichomes.
The rest of the plant has cannabinoids.

So are you saying that even though its in the vegitative stage, the shoots still contain psychoactive compounds that must be extracetd via frying in an oil base?

you mean in theory right? please don't tell me you are trying to get high by cooking only stems? That would be really hard to do.

Yes every part of the plant contains THC in some amount. I wouldnt fry the plant material in oil as it could destroy the THC it would be better to use a double boiler or boil in a pot of water and butter and than separate the butter. Another good method would be to make BHO. If your only using stems your going to need alot of them to extract a usable amount as they contain the least amount of THC of all the plant.

sound like its not worth it wiht the stems. But can anyone shed light on the topping vs. not topping debate and if topping ultimately yields more bud?

Yah the cannabidiol is the physco-active compound in the stems, and leaf.
I love making hash oil out of sticks and leaf. When you heat it up at a certain temp some of the cannabinoids change over to more cannbidiol. 1 hit and your toast... ;)

Acetone and a slow cooker hooked to a condenser, and then you dump that into a small dish and evaporate the rest of the acetone. them you make little hash balls and smoke that in a bong is best. VERY HIGH DANGER HEATING OF ACETONE THE SHIT IS VERY VERY FLAMABLE!!!! but it doesn't have any oils or any crap in it so you can evaporate it all out. plus you need some that that will dissolve the cannabinoids, there not soluable in water. theres a bunch a ways to do it. just google it....
