Stem showing roots?

Got a 8 week old seedling with roots shooting from the stem. Only happened after I topped them. Wondering if this is a good, bad, or neutral thing?

Yes, there's a bit of mycelium on the medium. It's been treated. Happens when humidity gets high in the lung room after I flush the cubes. If it spreads to the plants, I'll cull, but it hasn't happened thus far.20230706_195431.jpg

It’s probably due to the level of moisture on that part of the stem.. wet and dry cycles basically when watering. I had this happen on a stalk, and I just filled the pot with more soil. Idk what I would do in you’re situation. Maybe cut a cube to slide a section on top to give the root something to grow into instead of air prune.

I wouldn’t think it’s a bad thing though.

Shouldn't hurt anything. If it doesn't get covered, it will air prune itself. If it does get covered, it will grow into a new root.

That makes alot of sense. My plants usually get really stressed due to the space constraints of the 4in cubes until they go ape shit and roots grow so thick they start lifting the cubes in the flood tray. And growing down the channels.

With higher moisture levels you will see this. Cannabis will readily put out roots up to the cotyledons, but will rot above that. So it is usually no issue to bury a seedling up to the cotyledons on the first up pot. It can help with stability on floppy seedlings as well.

Adventitious roots arise under stress conditions such as waterlogging after floods. Topping or cutting leaves can result in the development of adventitious roots.
