Stealth PC Case - First Grow - White Widow

You won't believe it. I'm just starting to flush now.

Word of advice to others. Don't try to grow anything with 43 watts... it takes too long. The last of the white pistols are just now beginning to recede.

I don't think all the pistols are going to go orange on this for whatever reason, but I do still have some fresh white pistols sticking straight up, which indicates to me that the buds are not ready just yet. This is from the research I've done on this website.
Well I wouldn't advise growing with such small lights anyways but just a word of advise from a veteran, You see grows on here people time and say 60-80 days or whatever, this just not the case the vast majority of the time. Typically your going to actually have 250+ phenos in any given seed , even thou you may able to only distinguish 1 to 4 phenos there is really hundreds, every plant is different regardless of strain or anything (something people won't tell you, especially breeders, every seed you plant is like rolling a 250+ sided dice, read some books on cannabis genetics)...Also a lot of times people just cut way too early I think..Also with auto's you can get some real weirdos...and TBH I would never recommend to grow an auto to a noob , they are honestly for more advanced growers, normal indicia/sativa is not only easier to grow its just a better plant so really I don't recommend autos to anyone at all ...maybe advanced growers for just messing around but nothing serious...

anyway...regarding your plant..you can still have white pistols sticking straight up and its good to harvest sometimes, kind of rare but it happens, some plants seem to have them indefinitly actuallly...show some pics and I will tell you if its ready just drop me a message...one rule of thumb, if all or nearly all of your tichomes are solid white/amber/pink and not translucent or transparent then its ready, but post a pic and drop me a message I can tell just by looking at it.

Yea, 43 watts really turned out to be a joke. Originally thought I could run a bit more than that with the size of my fans, but turned out for the worst. Nothing lost though, just a plant and some knowledge gained.

With the chop times, I figured most people chop early as well, but I felt this was going on a bit long. Wasn't especially concerned given I burned it badly, and was using only 43 watts. Just seems to have gone on a bit longer than intended.

Thanks for the info on the pistils. I looked at a few photos of "white" strains, and they all showed an abundance, if not all orange hairs, so I figured nearly all of the hairs should be orange. I didn't know some strains would retain white pistils when ripe for harvest.

I have also found out that white widow is supposedly a 60/40, sativa/indica mix. Of course this varies from seed to seed and so on, but the site I ordered from stated that it was mostly Indica. Maybe the fact that it's roughly a 50/50 mix between sativa/indica is why it's taking a bit longer than expected? Not sure.

I did sample some trim 2 days ago to find out, and it's most definitely not an indica. The body buzz was weak, and most of the feeling was in the head and eyes. Also, because I thought it was an indica, I smoked 2 - 3 hours before bed, and that was a mistake... I couldn't sleep for probably 4 - 5 hours.

I've had a good Afghan before and I can definitely see the difference between this and an indica. To put it this way, I would feel comfortable driving a car after smoking this white widow, but after smoking a strain like Afghan, I wouldn't even remember what driving is, let alone attempt to drive.

I might make edibles with this plant, because the high was not that enjoyable. Overall it just made me feel depressed and bored with little body-euphoria. My mind also stayed relatively clear. Last time I had an Afghan strain, everything was hilarious, entertaining, the body-euphoria was great, my cognitive abilities ceased to exist, and I fell asleep for an hour while using the computer. I've heard edibles give you an awesome body high, regardless of the strain.

I'll try to get a good macro-shot up. I chopped one cola off so far because it seemed a bit more mature than the rest, and am going to give smoking it another try. If it makes me feel depressed and bored again with a lack of body-high, it's going to be edibles.

Online sources are very contradictory in the effects of White Widow. Some sites describe it as energetic, while others describe it as a couch-lock strain.

Deprave:

Here are the photos of the plant currently. She looks just about done, but I'm not sure if letting it run a bit longer is in my best interest or not. Looking for more of a couch lock effect. Trichomes are really all over the place... some are white, amber is showing most near the top of the colas, while the bases of the cola, and sides away from the light seem to be clear or cloudy.

I'm looking more so for the ripeness of the bud itself, rather than the color of the trichomes. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Very Nice Grow

But the lights are not strong enough, when you can fit in a 125-200w CFL you will get much better results i think.

Definitely have a eye on this grow, want to know how much you can yield with only 50w CFL

You can check out my grow when you want (Signature Link)

how long were you in actual flower? i'm flowering now with four 23 watt cfl's in my box. today is day 87 from sprout for me (45 days in actual flower). i'm thinking i might have 2 more weeks for myself. although i'm also still getting new white hairs, most all of the trics are cloudy, with a few amber spotted about.

You know, honestly I have no idea. I lost track when this thing started going way beyond my expected chop time. I can look back on this thread and figure it out for you though.

I'm going to chop the rest of my buds here in another 1 - 4 days I think, because they look about ripe now.

On a side note I sampled 3 little pieces of a bud (probably around 1/15th of a gram), and it toasted me good. I have no tolerance, as I only smoke on the weekends if at all. Wasn't expecting such a little amount of bud, that was growing under 43 watts to be that potent.

This white widow does induce some serious paranoia though. The first time I smoked some trim, my heart felt like it was on fire. The second time I tried the actual bud, it felt like there was really cold ice/burning in my stomach for an hour, and an electric type feeling in my chest moving from my liver, to my kidneys, to my lungs, etc.... really wasn't enjoyable at first because it felt like my internals were fucked up, but I knew it was just the weed playing tricks on me. After that, it was ok.

I don't think sativas produce much of a body high... but if this is what a sativa/indica hybrid does for a body high... I just don't get it. It's not that pleasant.

When I smoke pure indicas, it just feels like I'm a retard on a large quantity of opiates... pure bliss. This stuff makes me question if my internal organs are hooked up to a car battery for the first hour... lol.

The tallest cola was right around 5 inches. The height of the plant was somewhere around 12 - 13 inches.

I didn't weigh everything at once. I weighed what I have left now and it came out to 5.4 grams. I had at very least double what I have now, so that makes me believe I had around 10 grams. There are no stems in the mix either.

To me 10 grams seems like too much for the a 43-watt grow, then again I've smoked a bunch of times from this grow. I had probably .3-.5 g of sugar leaves I chopped off in the beginning of the harvest, and I have a decent sized bag of trim that has no fan leaves in it.
