Hi I have a PC I made for this occasion; Living at home with Parents, Dont trust dealer's, grow with my own seeds, and save money watch them grow. So I built this...View attachment 2687730View attachment 2687731

I use about $320 and 3 days work custom makes and wiring fans/lights with odor control in the fan..
I use:
12V power adaptor for fans
2X 6500k grow lights for starter
4000k for flowering
power adaptor +timer
soils for starter
trays for drains..
Temp 25C*
Running below computer usage. (24W)

you should invest in leds instead of your cfls.
you seem to have at least a basic understanding of electronics and with a little bit of research you should have no problem building your own LED rig for a decent price that would shit all over your CFLs.
the reason I suggest this is because it will save you a a lot of space inside your PC Case allowing for more growth/bud.
also it would give you more luminous intensity meaning denser, heavier nuggs.
also it would allow for a MUCH better color spectrum giving your plants more usable light and a lot less wasted light.
you can pick up Red 660nm and 630nm and Blue 450nm and also warm 2700k and cool 6500k white leds on ebay for stupid cheap.
also if you wanted to just stick with whites CreeXML 2700k WarmWhite and 6500K CoolWhites are extremely efficient and can be run up to 12watts without needing serious cooling.
I would suggest a combo of almost all CreeXML 2700k WarmWhites w/ like 1 6500k CoolWhite and an OSRAM SSL 660nm module for supplemental red light during flowering.
All of these can be obtained here: www.LED-Tech.de also look into www.LEDgroupbuy.com and www.intl-outdoor.com
This would give your plants a perfect spectrum. You wouldn't need much to light up that case.
I would get a longer tray/pot close to the size of the entire bottom of your case to maximize your root zone.
Also, you should look into a taller server tower.
and for an LED rig I would power (drivers) everything externally (kinda like your doing now), your parents would never know the difference.
All in all, I like what I see and wish I would have done something similar years ago when I was still living at home.
Hope you have some nice seeds and only the best of luck to ya kid. Welcome to RIU btw.

beautiful, what strain are you planning to plant in there? will have to do some serious topping and LSTing to be able to grow in there.. also comes without saying 12/12 from sprout... Subbed for sure

Thank you! the suggestions for LEDs are not bad.. 'save space and helps flowering' and I will try it out next time.

i dont know what straints.. any I suppose, because LST can be done with the rackings there.. I think I will treat any plants like a bonsai plant and I can manipulate it's sizes so that wont be a problem growing in there..

hehe do not overestimate them. some strains are tall and lanky, some are very difficult to lst. if i were you i'd try to google or start a thread asking people what strains they managed to grow in pc case. i believe it can be done, but only with appropriate strains

Do you have any photos of your grow with LEDs sir?

Nah I just cant get any seeds and I had these seeds from a dealer that gives me... and he doesnt know any thing about it. but I know these are sativa likes.. I grew one before but out door and I got some seeds from it.. strange is that it has big buds and comes with some seeds... haha I think it wants some legacy :) JK

do you know a good reliable source to get seeds from?

seen people buying from attitude, google it. also you can search for dwarf as a keyword. Look for flowering time/height as for specs. also try to google grow journals, what effect that strain has. it's delivered discretely and securely. At least from user reviews about attitude.. But really man, do not do that sativa strain in this box..

hehe well I am trying the seeds I got from my dealer.. and when I grow it successfully I will try to get some good seeds... and I have looked at them names.. I like the AK48 strains.. because of it's shorter time growth and higher yield ratings :) from the Nirvana shops.
I also have to try out the LEDs with the hydroponic set ups :) so exciting!

also checkout growshopalien.com

well I'm still not familiar with hydro or leds, been playing too much in sandbox of soil hehe.

and man, you are planning to do all this hydro in that pc case? Have you started growing that already?

yep look at this! :)
it has been a couple of weeks old and the one on the right will go into a different pot later i think keeping one hydroponic and one soils and see the difference :)

Having a fan blowing across and one blowing up to the outake fans take out all the humidity air when the temp controller hits 26.5c is the trick to get high temp and low humidity.. Plus the fans is not constantly on which saves power and the environment is similar to real world and I think the plants are doing great with the lights/ temp right now.

Mistakes:
Uses foils/cardboards for the surrounds was not good for this project.. I tested with some garden herbs and the foils just burn the leaves off.. and after 1 month of trial the cardboards seem a bit degrading due to the temperature I guess..
so now I have it with the sun reflector from car but there is a better material for this project is the mylar sheet from ebay.. I didnt get the actual mylar sheet because it was too expensive for this project, so I got an alternative calls "Fire rescue blanket" from China which is the same material and they costs like $1 for like 2 meters!

another mistaked I ran in was using a foil trays as a light reflector that doesnt go well either, they are squishy and I nearly got shocked by accidently moving it around near the lights.. DO NOT USE FOIL TRAY NEAR THE LIGHTS.
One other thing was I uses tapes to cover the wires joint, now I have upgraded to the safety ones just to save my parents house burning down..
luckily I only got shocked once doing this project :) damn it was an awful experience, and I nearly gave up this project because I dont want to get shocked again :( anyway I am still here typing this down for you all to learn from my mistakes... wear your rubber thongs and boots if you have some.. this may help saves your life too.
+ use sun glasses or some sort of uv ray protection to protect your eyes while opening the case or working on any electrical works, the sparks from short circuits may shoot you in the eyes ok.
There are risks involve but do your research and always have eyes goggles and rubber boots on to prevent shocks and injury while working on your pc.

This is cool man. You're going to flip when you get a chance to use a full room! I'm... not sure how this amount of space will work out for you in the long run -- i wouldn't have the patience to make it work -- but you've got some healthy little plants in there so best of luck!

ps - when i was your age; i just told my mom I wanted to smoke less, learn to grow, and smoke reliably; then I asked her if I could grow in the house and she said yes. I had a whole closet to myself. Picked up cheap HIDs on craigslist. You'd be surprised how parents might respond to children wanting to better their situations.

CFL's are fine for stealth grows, you do want to pack them in as tight as possible. Good luck with your grow!
