Stealth Grow Box Design Complications

Hello,

Link to Design - http://www.growweedeasy.com/building-an-ultra-stealthy-grow-cabinet

Okay, I found this design an was going to begin it's construction (Well already have), just I'm having a few complications with it.

1.) The ballasts location, it appear's to be in an enclosed location in the top. It also states in the read, that there is a 4" opening into fan room for it. In the design/pictures it appear's there is non. And if there was shouldn't there be a intake and not just an opening. Will this work if there is just a 4 inch opening, wouldn't this just create pressurized air space for the ballasts room in turn creating no cooling effect?

2. The Carbon Filters location seems to be at the top and discrete which is ideal. My issue is coming down to push or pull effect on them. I've done some research into this and it seems pulling would be best to get the most out of the filters effectiveness, and to increase it life span. So would it be in my best interest to put the carbon filter into the room instead and pull through the cool-tube and up to the exhaust?

3. Lastly the ducting/venting from the cool tube, would it work better to just have 1 tube to the top venting chamber, and just have a slinky ducking it to vent on the inside to achieve height differentials of the lighting system?

Thank you

Hey there,

Funny, that's the same site I got a "cheat sheet" from and my very first beginners info when I started growing weed last year!

I am sure you won't need an active intake. I'd assume you will only need an intake that is twice as wide as your exhaust fan's size. I could be wrong about the exact wording, but you only need a large enough intake vent to create enough negative pressure to keep air exchanging and moving without creating positive pressure.

As far as the carbon filter is concerned, you are exactly right. Your fan will be much more efficient if you use it to pull the air, instead of pushing. If you push the air, the fan will work on overdrive compared to if you pull the air from the filter on out. So as you said, that would help the life of the fan as well, and probably the life of the filter too?

If you can mount the fan and filter outside of the cab, that will help keep the heat down as well.

Thank you for your reply, If I mount the filter outside the room wont my air in the flowering room become stagnant though? I'd need an extra fan to vent grow room still for fresh air.

No problem!

Is the flowering room closed-in? Or do you have windows, etc for air to come in? I'd say, if you can ventilate the flowering room passively it should work?

Unless the heat buildup would be too much. Or unless you don't have windows, etc.
