What kind of lights are in there? CFL's? HPS? HALIDE? I don't think youll be able to keep that thing cool enough if your using halide or hps. those things generate wayyy to much heat for a cab setup unless you spend a shitload on a really really good set of fans for intake and exhaust.

I put the fans in yesterday. Each are 38cfm, one for intake an one for exhaust for each chamber THEY ARE FREAKIN SILENT !!!!!!!!!. I plan on hooking up a carbon filter so the exhaust fans will be supplimented with anoth fan on the other end of the filter to PULL the air through. I have 6 - 45w cfl's in each chamber and heat is not an issue (so far). Once my girls get in there and ad humidity into the mix, I may have to change things up a bit. I am germinating some bag seeds right now to put in for my first grow. Wanna make sure heat, humidity and air flow are all good before I start the "Good Stuff" I put some light manifolds over the intake fans but never got any pics. NO light is getting in or out from the intake fans and the exhaust will be hooked to vent hose so no light there either
Thanks for lookin and come back as I will update as I go along.
:leaf: Smoke it if you got it !

Dude, awesome looking cabinet, fair dinkum.
But where are you going to place a fan for air circulation? Fans assist in stirring the air to strengthen the plants stems and also to assist with transpiration, mould control and other things.
Next you'l have to consider that the plant's distance from the lights will need to be adjusted (raised with books or something) so I recommend square pots which make best use of the space available. Or maybe one longish rectangle shape one.
Throw a thermometer in there and test run the box for 24hrs so we can see how the temps behave, if you have one that also reads relative Humidity then put a tub of water and we can have a look at that as well.
Lights, maybe consider a few smaller sized lights (not talking about watts here) around the sides for better distribution, I've read that the CFL lights cannot penetrate through foliage as well and the lower parts of the plants suffer from that. What I did was placed mirrors around the lower half for the moment while they're still small. later I will line the cabinet walls with 11 watt minis using this part light set up.

peace to You bro,
Yarndi.

Hey Yarndi.
Thanks for the concern but I don't think you looked close enough at the pics !! ha ha ha There are intake and exhaust fans wired into each chamber. 4 @ 53cfm each. As for the lights, they are already on a pulley system that will raise and lower them very easily. In regard to some smaller lights, my plan is to hang a couple of totally separate lights down each side (outside) to supplement light from the top. I have ran the lights for a lengthy time with no plants and highest temp was 80 degrees. I did not try any humidity checks yet but a tub of water in there under the lights is a good idea, I will try that and let you know what it reads. Humidity may raise the temp a bit as well the extra light may also.
Thanks for the help Man

Yeh I saw the intake and exhaust fans in each partition but I was referring to an oscilating fan:

But you are a deadset champion at this building of the grow box.
You don'tind if I use that design do you? :)

Thanks for the compliments Yarndi, you can Jack what ever part of that design you like. I have a battery powered oscillating fan that I was going to use, it was just not in the box. Not sure if I like the battery powered Idea so I may go out and get one I can wire into the block. I have been following your thread as well and I am glad to have read the whole thing about watering and how CFL's don't dry things out as fast. I think if the oscillating fan is blowing across the top of the pots, it will assist in drying the soil out.
I think this weekend I am going to vent the exhaust fans and try my hand at a DIY carbon scrubber and then I think I am good to go. Still working on a light seal for the inside doors to ensure absolutely no light is getting in (or out to keep stealth) but i think i have the solution with velcro. My clones are only a phone call away so with any luck I will have some ladies in there at the beginning of next week.
Cheers

hey man i have a similar cabinet, 2wx5hx1d and i run a 150 hps in the 3 ft flower on bottom and cfls in the top for clones and veg. now what i did to stop the light from getting in through the gaps in th doors was use 1in foam weather stripping and made them over lap ill grab a photo to show what i mean.

Dude, that is a sweet Cabinet ! Heat a non issue? You know, I have been concerned about my decision to split the Cab in two equal size compartments. In hind sight I think I should have done what you did and split in 2/3-flower and 1/3 veg. It is too late now that I have mounted the fans, drilled holes and am about to start a grow. Lets hope that LST does the trick and I can get away with the space I have. I am using CFL to veg and flower so if I flower fairly early, and LST I think I can keep the height down.
What I have done to stop light is to mount those inner doors with Velcro at the extreme outside edge and just inside the velcro I have a strip of 1/2" weather stripping also. It is BLACK in there as well as absolutely no light escaping the Cabinet.
By the way, is that your first grow in that Cab? If you have harvested one from there already, what was the yield on 2 plants, what strain (if you don't mind sharing)
Thanks for sharing the setup, that is the closest I have seen to what I have done so far. Rep !

hey thanks a lot man. i think you will do just fine with lst in that space. heat is not really to much of an issue in the flower chamber temps get to about 83, i am contemplating remotely wiring the ballast outside of the cab to drop the temps a bit more. for yields i wish i could help you but i do not own a scale i actualy had three plants in there but one was out of there for some reason during those photographs. the plants are just some random seeds i got in a bag of herbs, havent yet had the luxury of knowing the genetics i grow but soon i will order some new genetics!

What a great job! Have seen a lot of set-ups but I have to say that yours takes the cake. You'll have to let us know how it works...... +rep
