Okay well I've moved since my last grow and I'm faced with new challenges and opportunity to build a kick ass grow room and I wanted to share it here for everyone to enjoy. I've moved to a luxury townhouse living style complex but thanks to there diligent maintenance of the buildings they will be entering the townhouse to change the central heating and air filter every three months. This wouldnt be so bad except the intake of the system is split between the upstairs and down stairs with two intakes up stairs one in each bedroom so by defualt they get to see alot of the house. The other day I noticed that the closet next to the stairs did not go all the way to the back wall, meaning that if I was lucky there would be a hidden area directly under the steps if I cut a hole in the back of the closet. The room will most likely be short and provide a ventlation problem but it will be completly unexpected by the any visitor and extremly secure.

The pics show me making an entrance to the future grow room. I plan on using a 400w MH/HPS with the computered controlled hydro system that I will build my self using the desgin from my last grow journal and an ozon generator for smell. I'll be growing proably three white widow and three ice plants from seeds I ordered providing they show up if not it'll be bag seeds untill I get out to california. After this grow I'll be using clones so I'll also be setting up a mother room . Well I'm really excited again and if you have any suggestion or words or encourgament post them.

I swept and moped the area yesterday and than sprayed it down with a water bleach mix. Cleaning the room this way should help reduce the risk of molds and fungus so we'll see. After work today I enlarged the entrance to 20"x25". This required the removal of a 2x4 which i braced above the cut to the adjacent 2x4. I than fitted a vent cover in order to help it blend in just in case someone was to come poking around. Besides the fact theres a large vent in the back of a closet it doesnt look to bad IMO. After this I began hanging the mylar. I only had the remains from my last grow room so it only covered about half of what i will be covering. I started putting up mylar with the stapple gun and the sound of using it in the space is loud and shooting stapples into the wall next to your neighbors I believe they could hear it so being high I became parionod and started just using foil tape and i'll shoot the stapples only a couple at a time in order to keep from arosing suspesion with the nieghbors.

Now I basically have 40" of vertical space for the grow and I need to figure out what should make the shortest hydro setup in order to maximize my vertical growth DWC is my first reaction anyone disagree? This grow is also going to have to be left unattended for up to 16 days whale I travel so it'll need a res thats bid enough to hold mature plants through there massive water use during flowering.
As always here are some pictures of todays progrss and the dwinderling supply of marijuana I have left from my last grow.

Looking good, You should try some of those automatic flowering lowryder seeds, the fact that you have limited vertical room plus you'll be going away a lot.

Shopping for a container for the DWC system I had to find the shortest one possible that would still contain my net pots and the only one I could find that fit this requirement was a set of clear plastic containers at a walmart. So I purchased three of these containers and some paint and set about painting the containers to block light with a dark brown under coat and a white outer coat to reflect light. After an entire day of painting and let drying and applying more coats you could still see plenty of light through the paint if you turned the container upside doen on top of a floro. SO i decided to buy duct insulation from home depot and wrap the containers with it. The insulated duct wrap will also help keep the water cool by reflecting the light and insulating from the heat. Cool water temps around 60 is the optium for hydro for those not familure with it. This worked perfictly to block out the light so I taped it up with white duct tape and foil tape to prevent water from getting into the fiberglass insulation. You will see the the photos that i have attached a shower drain with screen removed to the side of the containers. All three containers will be connected with 2 inch PVC to allow easyier filling and emptying of the system, cirtical in these confined spaces. I have plans to possible use a float swich and a pump to atoumaticly refill the resivours when they get low so I can leave it unattended for long periods of time. I've also mounted a fan for circulation and my 400 watt grow light. I will be using mh for veg and hps for flower. One of the challenges was figuring out how to vent the room form the center of the home. This nuck is adjacent to a bathroom So i cut a 6 inch whole for a duct fan directly behind the toilet to hide it. Than leaving the bathroom vent on to extract the heat. I havent built the light trap yet but its only noticable with the bathroom light off. Theres still alot of work left to do but its starting to look like a grow room. I need to figure out an intake system because the vent i use and an entrance will be bloacked out and it really needs to be on the opposite side of the grow room. The hieght issue cause me to use a none standard lighting placement but I will be placing 75 watt flouros at the other side of the grow room to compinsate the best I can. The white tops of the containers are also going to have foil tape over them to completly block light from the res. And here are the pics so far

Sorry for the long delay and skip my job requires me to travel for several weeks at a time so the plants are pretty much have to fend for them self whale I am gone. Its this long periods of time with out care that made me chose DWC as by using a large res (apx 60 gallons) and multiple air pumps the odds of a system failure is low. Each part of the res is feed by and two air hoses both from differant air pumps so even if one pump fails the res will still have one air pump and because all the reses are interconnected the D.O. will be supplemented by the other air pumps. The plants I have in here are 5 ww and 4 ice plants from nirvana. The plants are 3 weeks old and they spent the fist 16 days of life without me around and this being the first grow at my new location I ran into a problem of hard water and this locked out the mag so the lower leaves are a burned and hurt but added epson salt and began foiler feeding and this has remedied the problems and the plants are off growing healthy again. I've purchased some calmag that i'll be adding to supplement the nutes from now on and with this problem fixed the rest of the grow should go without a problem and I should be home for the rest of the grow so I'll be better taken care of. The light is a 400 watt HPS and its set of center all the way to one side and and it angled down the lenght of the grow room. The mylar on the back wall reflects the light back at the plants and it prevents a leaning plant that'll break during flowering. The reason I had to enter connect all the reses is for redundecy and the area is verry tight and its the only practical way to fill and drain the res. The PVC pipe sticking up in the center allows me to add chemicals that will disperse evenly and quickly to all three reses. Becuase of my hieght limitations I'll be letting the plants grow for anouther week than I'll taking a cutting from the top. Effectivly giving my a clone and a toped plant that will bush out I'll than place them into a flower after a week to allow them to destres from the cuttings. I hope this will maximize my growing area and combate my hirght problem. I'm actually tempted to take a cutting now and place them into flower in a week as the plant are not from femed seeds and this grow is to really find a mother plant. Although I also hope to produve enought weed to hold throught the next grow. One thing I've noticed is the ICE plants seem to be hardier than the WW this could simply a chance of the seeds I selected. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions. The cactus is a San padroe I've been growing for a couple of years I had a little extra room so I'm lettng it enjoy the grow room through the winter. Here are some pics of the grow room. Oh i'm using the ionic pro mini for oder controll and it helps but not that much house still reeks. Peace
