Starting over

Well about a week ago I fell backwards in the closet on the ground and got a lil pissed... I have huge anger problems... I beat the shit out of the grow box then ripped it to shreds ruined everything... I am now starting over and using an area under a desk in the closet covered with a blanket. All around the lights and plant will be several sheets of white paper too, to help reflect light, because sadly thats all I can get. I have 2 1650 lumen cfls on 1 small pot with a freshly germinated seed in it. I covered it with plastic wrap to keep moisture in, and it has many many drain holes in the bottom. I am not sure if they are big enough or how many there should be... the only thing I could find to make holes was a needle and I put about 50 holes in it, in diffrent spots all around it.

Now should I just leave it be for a few days and then check up on it?

Alright its been 24 hours.

I know its a bad idea but im using backyard soil. Semi-sterile. It should be bug free. I got it in the winter time and the soil was for the most part dry-ish. I sorted through it carefully too.

Anyways

After past failing growing attempts and only getting a plant to live for a few days at the most... I figured out what I was doing wrong. Not keeping the soil moist when I put the newly taproot emergen seeds in it. I would have it get bone dry under the light for hours and hours until I watered it again, and by then I would dig it up and the taproots were crispy. Happend with everything. Finally relized I had to keep the soil moist and put holes to drain and all that. Well I fixed my mistakes and planted a new seed. checked it 24 hrs later, and the seed hasnt grown yet but 8 little backyard weeds rose out of the soil. Good sign that my plant has a chance to live or not? I mean theyre both weeds...

I of course pulled every little backyard kind of weed out of the soil,

I am glad you figured out your problem, but outside soil is not the way to go!! you never know if there are microscopic critters crawling around in the dirt. You may also bring in any diseases that the soil may have. Soil is relatively inexpensive. You want to be sure you know what you are getting!! Good luck!!

I just took a look at one of the seeds, I may have killed it oh well, I dug one up after 30 hours, and it originally had a tap root about 1 - 2 mm long, when I dug it out it was about 1/2 - 2/3 inch long, white looking kind of wide, and the seed shell was gone. At the top there was barely barely a visible area of the first 2 leafs starting to form. I replanted it anyways.. I still have a few more seeds planted under the same conditions so they should be doing the same.
