Starting from seed - Introducing the seedling into DWC - When - How

Hi all,

So far I've had a few successful dwc projects. However I am concerned I am not doing it right.

I start from seed, and I germ in a rapid rooter. So now I have a seedling with a small tap root.

I then place this in my dwc bucket with water just below the net pot. I hand water until the roots reach the water. Then boom she takes off. Is this correct? How long can I leave the seedling in the germing station? Do I wait till roots are coming out the sides of the cube?

I've done two grows, both DWC and I did exactly what you did... I know it can drive you nuts waiting for those roots to pop out of the net pot, but you're right, once they do, it's on like Donkey Kong. What nutes/strength are you using though? Not to be super critical, but I've seen better looking seedlings. I'm wondering if you're burning the little lady? Again, not being critical... just observant.

You can leave your seedlings in the rooting station a little longer if you like, but I don't know that promotes faster root growth... The minutes she's in the net pot, her roots go nuts looking for water... In the rooter, she doesn't have to look very far... In the net pot, she'll dig deeper faster I think, but that's just my guess...

That's the way I did my clones...except I went waay to far down in the net pot, and I had to seal the holes left along the top of it... Haha, I think you're on the right track though Pickpocket.

You are doing it right.
I usually wait til the roots are shooting out everywhere all over the cube before sticking them into the nets.then i keep the water level just above the bottom of the net for a week. Then i add a low 5-10% grow nute and add 10-20% every week or two.
