Starting a mother

Is it possible to start a mother from a plant that's already flowering?
I have 2 plants that have been 12/12 from seed that are about 3 1/2 weeks old. Both turned out to be females (yay!). I topped one and want to continue flowering it but the other is lacking so I want to turn it until a mother. There are pistils showing... is it too late to put her in a veg light cycle and turn her into a mother?

hmmm heres an answer. You can clone from a flowering plant, however it can take upto three week for them to root. Which is two weeks longer than if the plant was still in veg. You can wait for your mother to go back to veg. state by putting it back under 18/6 light cycle, howver it can take upto a month for the plant to return to veg. state. The main problem with cloning a female is that the plants will grow more like a bush rather than a tall plant. It will turn out to be short and bushy with lots of popcorn nuggs. Which is good if you plan to grow them indoors because you can do SOG. It would be okay for growing outdoors also because they will be low to the ground which is a plus for hiding them.

Rep+ for answer?

Yep, +rep. Thanks for the good info.
My only remaining question is, what is the correct way to start a mother? Because you must sex it so you always have to flower it then force it back to veg. So I don't really have a choice... that seems like the only way to do it.

The long winded way would be to grow several mothers, thake a clone from each then flower each clone. Obviously the clones that flower female are from the female mothers. so then you would keep those mothers and throw the others. But this would take a while. Or just clone from a plant that is just showing female flowers and use as a mother (shorter option).

hey man, look into re-vegging. that is the best option for you. it is done when you are finished flowering and you restart the plant in 18-6 and it comes back to life in veg. just do some googling man.

and an fyi, if you take clones from a mother plant, it does not grow bushy if you put it straight into flower like a true SOG. My super lemon hazes grow chunkers.
