Ive got a room thats just over 7 feet tall and is 4 and a half feet wide and 3 feet 2 inches in length. From what ive been researchin you need to have 3 different kind of bulbs to switch from seedlings-vegation- flowring. Im looking to just get a HID light for seedlings all the way up to flowering,( is it possible and how much watts and how many bulbs do i need) Then what do i need for flowering. I here a HPS lighting system? Not to be greety but money is not a factor im just looking to do this setup with the best lights but tryin to keep it simple as possible between 2 different light throughout the whole plants life. Thanks

the easiest and most cost effective thing for seedlings is cfl's in my opinion.
The more powerful high energy lights are more suited for late veg time and flowering. Where they can promote denser growth.
For your seedlings I honestly think cfl is the way to go.

How much cfl bulbs do you think id need? and could i hang them from a lizard light because thats the only fixture i'd have. A HID 400 watt light wouldnt work? Im juyst very confused on what lights i need to start this, and due to the fact what would fit in the room i have.

Use cfl's for the first few weeks...I think the 400w would be too intense for the seedlings.

I NEVER understand how people can say that, how can ANY light be TOO INTENSE for a seedling? Do seedlings not grow outside? Where the sun is ALOT MORE INTENSE than any HID light BY ALOT. If you can manage the temp, no light is TOO intense.

Ive got a closet set-up pretty much the same size as your closet, because of my budget i just went with a single 400w HPS for the whole grow- I know MH and Floro's put out enough light for veg but i saw no ill effects from growing my little guys under the HPS. I know that there are a lot of CFL pushers on here and there experiences may differ, but from my personal experience you are selling yourself short if you dont go w/ an HID lamp. It is a must if you want to produce some good dense HQ nugs.

Ventilation is a bigger issue in that closet, I had to ghetto rig my household a/c to pump cool air into my grow room just to keep the temps in the sweet spot. If you are capable of cutting holes on the walls/ceiling for vent holes than you you shouldnt have a problem

If you want anymore help or have any questions about settin up ur closet just shoot me a pm on here and ill try to help

later dude

thanks alot "huskerguy", im not capable of cuttin wholes in walls, althought i can set a few fans up so there pointing the hot air out of the closet. How far away do you think the 400w HPS should be away from the plants? I plan on fitting 5 to 6 plants in here. I'd rather use the HPS bulbs rather then the CFL if the HPS is goin to produce more buds and better quality. Also DO you think if all the walls are covered with mirrors It'd be too much reflection, whats the better way to go? Thanks alot

dont use mirrors!!! they absorb more light than they reflect, if you have flat white walls they will do just about as good as mylar... which would be what i recommend.
I tried to get six plants goin in mine this last time and i found it to be pretty cramped for space after a month of veg, i was semi-relieved when 3 went male on me to allow for proper air movement and ease of watering and moving the plants around.

how big are your plants right now? If they are seedlings i wouldnt be so concerned with getting the light all up in their business i had mine a good 2.5 feet away, just prop em up with a little stake and have a fan blowing on them gently to control stretching, after that I would say a good rule of thumb is 12-13 inches from the light is ok, a little more wont really hurt anything. this also kind of depends on the light and hood set-up. just stick your hand under the light and you can feel where the light is too intense or too hot and just give the plants an extra couple inches of cushion
