Starting A Dispensary?

I thought this might make for some interesting discussion....

My state will be allowing medical marijuana soon. I've been thinking about starting a dispensary once its legal.

Anyone have any info they can share on this? Tips, potential pitfalls, etc.? Can anyone with a clean record open one?

A lot of the details will depend on how the law is written. Seems like the biggest issue is how do I legally obtain product. The easiest way would be to go to Humbolt County in the fall to stock up for the year. But, transporting it home could be a big problem if dea finds out.

Security would be a huge issue too. Once you open, everyone will know your building is full of buds. Seems like you'd get robbed every night.

if you design it to where the bud is kept behind a heavy Iron door with multiple-industrial strength deadbolts, and a solid wood door with 2 deadbolts leading to the entry foyer for the "bud vault", and a good alarm system that alerts you and the authorities and cameras covering every square foot of the place, except the bathroom........ that could be enough deterrent to make the craftiest criminal run away.... unless criminals in your area walk around with several pounds of TNT, or C4 in their pockets......

i used to work in an auto electronics shop for about 2 years, we had 4-night break ins... not a single piece of inventory was ever stolen.... all they took was the 100 dollars in petty cash, and the cameras photographed the perps, all but one were caught..... only once did they get past the solid wood door.... only to run into the heavy iron gate, with deadbolts fit for a bank safe.... all in all i say it will cost around 2 grand to install something like this.... not too bad, we had 200 thousand dollars worth of merchandise in our "computer vault" make sure the 'bud vault' is what security people call a sterile area, in other words, nobody but yourself knows what's behind the wood door....

I too cant wait for my state to go the medical route. I have been having wet dearms about it ever since i got back from California. If it does happen i will put ever thing i have into that business.

ive beentokin since i was 11, im 54 now and i remember smokin and dreaming of legal weed but in no way did i ever imagine a place where i could go buy a bag of the kind , some honey to drip over it and an edible that is stonier than the bag, dispensarys?
yup im all for those and they smell soooo yummy also, get active! if your state is still draggin its feet on decreminalization stand up and be heard.

You never mentioned what locality you're in so its impossible to just give general information because even from city to city in a state the laws can be different.
Your community is what matters after youve identified what state youre interested in.
