Start to finish. DWC simplified. Single plant grows.

The two strains I will be showing are "Fire Alien"(FA) and "Confidential Cheese"(CC) taken out of an E-z cloner but this can be done with rooters too.

I will be using CX hydro line
T 5 for lighting in veg
1000-Watt air cooled hood in flower. (But I promise you, if done correctly a 600 can and will still be off the charts too)
1. Setting up the netpot.

1/4 inch airline
2 small round air stones
2 large round air stones 2 more large rounds will be needed in week 3
Bucet top netpot
grow stones/medium
3 gallon black bucket, 5 gallon will be needed in week 3
Air pump (small medium for veg, large to extra large for flower)

I hang my large rounds by running the airline through the netpot about 6 inches below the bottom of the netpot. Then zip tie the airlines on each side to the net pot fixing them in place. This will not only keep the stones closer to the roots as the buckets get deeper it holds them in place so when doing water changes or moving them to larger buckets they stay in place, and it makes for a clean grow.

Mix 3 gallon of nutes and fill the bucket about 2/3 of the way. Slowly set your net on the bucket while laying the large rounds on their sides. If the stones are standing up your lid will not lock onto the bucket.

Turn on your air pump and slowly add the leftover nutes until you see bubbles.

Once a day I check on them and top them off with water ph'ed at 6.0. Takes less than 5 min's.




Here we are 1 week into veg and we can see the growth already. The tallest of the plants in the FA and the shorter plants are CC. The FA is growing like mad and I'm sure it will be the first or the two strains we follow into flower.

It's time for a water change and another week of doing what they do all on their own following the same nute levels and topping off as in step one. If we have the air pump running or levels too high it can displace the plant loosening the base it's establishing with the stones and netpot.

I've found that even in the summers heat leaving the buckets on the concrete floor is enough to maintain the proper temps for healthy growth.

Hi I am panning to grow for the first time I have 2 600w grow lights and I am attempting to grow in dwc single plat in 1 round bucket like you I have GH pH up pH down ph pen and ppm pen 20watt comercial grade air pump with 6 outlets and 6 airstones what do you think please tell me if I am missing out something for dwc grow in the country where I live in tap water comes out at 120ppm and 7.5pH do I still need reverse osmosis system or just regular water filters rated with microns?

I wouldn't worry about the water, mine comes out of the tap at 8.5 and 150 ppm. To be honest ppm's are not as important as they are made out to be. I have taken a few plants into the high 20's and they flowered beautifully. You just have to make sure the nitrogens are not high enough to cause problems.

A good idea would be to get a smaller pump for a bucket with a couple of stones in it to aerate the water for a day before a water change. This will burn off any extra chlorine etc as well as aerate the water. Just use the same size or a bucket larger than you need to fill your grow bucket so you have enough.

Following any nutrient lines directions for hydro will do the trick.

With 6 stones you will want to start off in a larger bucket, like a 5 to 7 gallon.

I have never worried about PPM's living in the city. When I lived near a river and relied on well water, it was a HUGE issue. If your water source is "drinkable", it's usually ok. Las Vegas has terrible water without filters as well as Arizona, and half of Cali.

How do you add nutes when roping off with water? For example if there's more ppm the second day than the first day? Or vice versa

PH is the only thing you really need to be concerned with, not ppm's..

I ph the water before I top off with it. Nutes are only added once a week when I do water changes, the rest of the week is water only. If and only if I see any type of changes in the plant do I worry about or check the bucket for any possible ph issue's. I just lift the basket up and set it in an empty bucket and check the water.

I'll undoubtedly be watching this! How come you go from 3 to 5 gal bucket instead of straight to 5?

nice grow... why do you use such a big net pot? seems like they usually don't really take off until the roots grow out of the basket and get into the dwc, and the larger basket reduces water volume. The buckets are 2/3 full; do you have to top feed at all while they are young before the roots have dropped?

They look super happy for sure though... what nutes and all do you use? sorry if I missed it...

1.)Waste of nutes, airstones, power.

2.) As an old soil grower I found that plants grow healthier and stronger when the roots are somewhat confined/limited. Having something for the roots to push off of so to say. I tested this theory several times by putting a clone straight into a 5 gallon and a clone into a cup, then smaller pot then medium then large. The transplanted clone grew much faster and the root mass was much larger.

1.)The basket is submerged and the water level is maintained to the point you can see the bubbles rolling at the top of the grow stones.

2.) The pots fit buckets so no other modifying or parts are needed.

3.) More stability to the plant for transplants and top/upper root mass.

4.) The CX hydro line.

Awesome, I'll give it a try once I move and get the second flower tent going.

I plan on posting weekly update through out the entire grow and yes, or when there are comments and questions inbetween, the entire Hydro line with the only other additive being Orca root stimulator.

I start with 1 liter Air Pots side filled with smallish polished ornamental stones + hand water for ~ 5 days

Once roots escape the bottom I transfer the entire AP into a large net pot and side fill with medium stones

Virtually no trauma

Since the roots are already sticking out the bottom of the 1 liter AP I do not have to raise the water line much
