Stages of Flower from Flip to Harvest

I have seen plenty of scattered info on various forum sites about flowering, and felt for the newbie, maybe a video tutorial all in 1 place of what to expect, what to do, how to do it, and a real time week by week progression of the entire flowering process. Here are a few pics that show the transition taking effect, and then a quick video link showing what week 1 actually looks like. I will try my best to update videos and pics regularly along the way. Hope this becomes helpful to someone someday. Happy growing all! The strain is Holy Grail Kush, flipped lights to 12.5/11.5 on Sunday, which is the 1st pic which was taken after 24 hrs dark prior to flip. 2nd pic was taken on Wednesday when obvious preflower pistils began forming. The video linked here is from today.

As you can see from the pictures, once the build up of the hormones Florigen and Phytochrome, it will initiate the bloom stage of flower in the visible form of slightly yellowing tops. Many new growers might begin to freak out and think they have a deficiency, but worry not, you can now begin to start your count. The counting of flowering time is not done from flip, but rather from the actual onset of flower. i.e. yellowing tops and the appearance of obvious preflower pistils showing on the tops. Note that some strains will show presex pistils and preflowers at the base of some nodes during veg, but not all will. During this 1st week of flower you will also begin a vigorous growth phase called flowering stretch. Now is the time to closely monitor your light height, and work on keeping your canopy as flat and even as possible. I will go over various training methods and techniques in a few days, and show you how I like to train my plants. Here are a couple links I found that have good information about the Florigen and Phytochrome hormones and get more in-depth as to what they are and actually do for the plants.
