so i got bored this morning and made the first round of hash with the trimmings...

i used a keif box with a nice silk screen... i rubbed up all the trimmings and shook the shit out it...

with 8 ounces of trimmings here is what i came up with the first run...

i have all the trimmings in the freezer to get cold.. then ill run it all through again.. see if i cant get more...

Looks great ss420. I know when i get rolling with my grow i will make some hash. never had it but want to try MAESTRO. lol

its great... the high is very intense and i love it that way.. after this update i plan on doing a few bong rips and relaxing!

I think your weight is more accurate than mine which is good for you. I have never made hash before how long do you freeze the trimmings and what kind of a screen do you use. I will be harvesting my white widow in about 2 weeks. I am curious on your blueberry smoke report. I harvested my blueberries and they tastes like lemon, I don't understand. Then again it is my first harvest.

honestly i still dont know what i have in weight.. i know i have 38 mason jars... they are 1 quart jars which usually hold between 1 to 1.5 ounces.. i have them decently full so really its still any ones guess.. my guess was still just a guess.. saturday, when i bag them up, ill know for sure... so saturday is the day ill announce the winner!!

well to start out you have to dry the shit out of your trimmings... i leave mine sit out on something, like a trash bag or large window screen for a couple days.. the dryer the better..

normally i make bubble hash using bubble bags... its, imo, the best hash.. burns slow.. great tasting.. but a pain in the ass to make... heres a link that tells how to make it with the bags they sell... http://www.hashbag.com/

the stuff i made i used a dry keif box... its basically just a box with a lid that hinges, a silk screen in the middle, and a removeable glass bottom which catches the keif... after i dried the shit out of the trimmings i "powderized" handfuls of it into the box.. the smaller you can get it the better.. just dont go over board.. once i had the box about 1/4 to 1/3 full i began shaking it.. for at least 10 minutes... i'd remove the glass insert, scrap it, and shake some more... that was the first amount you saw in the pics...

now im freezing everything.. well its been in the freezer all night.. and ill do the entire thing again.. i should get as much, maybe, as i did the first time..

it basically ends up amounting to grade a, grade b, ect of hash... you can press it or whatever you want to do with it... i just throw some on bowls im smoking or a little in blunts.. whichever is going on.. i took some bongs rips... got through 1/2 the bowl.. then i woke up this morning...

oh.. and the blueberry is amazing.. smooth and very berry tasting... the smell of blueberries lingers in the air and on your tounge.. the buds themselves are as strong smelling as i want.. but the curing is doing wonders.. just 12 hours has made a huge difference!

thanks bro.. i worked hard and busted ass.. its really nice to see the sweat and tears paying off... i started making hash today... it looks like im going to get a SICK amount from what i have.... shits almost a yellow white.. ill post a pic of what i end up with later... if you get in a pinch you should swing up here... im sure we can figure something out..

im impressed by the amount of reading you have done.. this is a LONG ass journal... it amazes me sometimes.. there are parts full of useless shit.. but there are some parts with gems.. at least mistakes i made that i fixed... which is always good to see for future reference..

so im sure that the buds will be in circulation... i know some are headed to chicago... but mostly in the surrounding northen IN area... if you are around here im sure some will leak into your hands!! i always think its funny when people bring over the stuff i grew and are like "check this shit out bro.. its some fire!!"... it makes me laugh on the inside.. gotta keep a poker face tho.. cant be tipping off anyone..



i tasted all the strains i had yesterday... some of the smaller buds were dried enough to smoke.. even without curing they are amazing.. the taste, the smootheness, and most importantly the high were all what i wanted... ended up passing out from being sooo ripped.. it was nice... cant wait to get them cured up and really done right...

nice! my suggestion, leave one in a completely dark DRY cabinet for the next month, you will not be disappointed.

Howdy SS420, Thats cool you think you may end up with 57 oz's! Because, I actually guessed you would have 57 oz's back on -10-25-09 when i posted then. I'll keep my fingers crossed. If i win I'd love the 'sampler platter' for my prize.
I've just recently tried some sweet blonde hash that is locally made in mid-Michigan, and it was bomb!
It didn't have any Arabic writing or seals like the blonde Lebanese from the late 70's but it packed a serious punch. Keep us posted.

the winner get to decide what they want.. i think a sampler would be do-able... just another day or two before i declare the winner... so you maybe it!!

i've been smoking so much hash the last couple days.. i ended up running all my trimmings through the box again after i let them freeze over night and ended up getting almost as much hash as i had in the pic i posted.. ended up with over 22 grams of it!! i like this method a lot better than the bubble.. i get more.. and its much less messy, much more easy, and looks a lot cooler when you have a huge plate of keif..

then.. after i did all that.. me and my buddy used the trimming and made cana-butter... ended up making almost 12 ounces of butter with 1/2 the trimmings.. so i still have enough to make another 12 ounces... we ended up making some brownies... and damn... if i was high enough from smoking hash and headies, and taking cough medicine (ya, im a lil sick), the brownies definitely did it for me... i slept REALLY good last night....

mygirls - you better not have a repeat ever.. i hope not at least.. thats some tough shit to deal with.. the violated feeling you get is bad enough. let alone the loss... did i ever tell you i run a security business?? its called "fuck with my client and ill fuck you up, inc."

reef - i have all my jars chilling in what i like to call my curing cabinet.. its a cabinet i've designated for use only with weed related things.. i keep all my misc shit in there and clear it out for curing... im going to do my damnedest to keep some for myself.. but my ultimate goal of the flower room and coliseum and shit far outweighs my need to smoke... someday i want to have so much around that i can swim in it... gotta sacrafice now for excess later

hey bro i aint mad at ya, im in the same boat.

so the total is in... 41.5 ounces.... a little short of what i wanted... im some what dissapointed... but i had some things that attributes to being short.. lets go over everything that went wrong...

i only had 9 girls instead of the 12... 2 died and the 1 one male.. so i was short planted...

i had the nute burn issue that affected the yield on a couple girls that survived it.. namely the white shark...

i had 2 dwarfs... 1 was basically a 12/12 clone and 1 was a charlie brown xmas tree...

most of the girls only got to veg for 3 weeks instead of 8 like they will get too..

plus, realistically, i have more room i can pack more girls into my grow room...

so lets figure out how efficient my grow was...


i ended up with 1100 grams... divide that by 9 girls, and i got 122.2 grams per plant....

1100grams divided by 2480ws = .44 grams per watt (shitty)

5x8 area = 40 square feet... 1100grams divided by 40 square feet = 27.5 grams per square foot


so some of the numbers sound like it was a shitty grow.. but i want to figure in the average of the other 3 girls, and see what it would have been like had the grow been all 12 girls...

122 x 12 = 1464 potential grams

1464grms/2480ws = .59grms/wat

1464grams/40sq.ft = 36.6 grams/sqft..

so add in the extra 3 plants and the numbers sound a little better...


so changes i am making to tweak things and other things that will be different the next grow....

1) i am adding at least 3 to 4 more girls into the grow....
2) the girls will get to veg out for the entire 60 days instead of only 2 to 4 weeks
3) i know to check the pumps each change to avoid issues with nute burn
4) the water chillers will keep the water in range so the roots dont get cooked early in their life
5) the flower room will be 4 x 1000w hps lamps for maximum flowering
6) i am keeping to a smaller number of heavy yielding strains... which i changed btw to chocolopse, killawatt, and keeping m. tundra.. oh.. and im stickin with the ak48 autos....
7) i think i'll go a little heavier on the kool bloom also during flowering.. i think i can get away with a little higher ec throughout the grow than i had...
lastly, i am going to shy away from hydroton and go with coco coir.. i still have some hydroton i need to use because i cant do shit else with it... but once its gone im sticking with ccc or perlite...


now for the smoke report!! the best part of all.. oh and i have to figure out the winner of the contest.. unless someone else knows... ill have to check.... lol

strawberry cough - it definitely has a strawberry patch smell.. its a mix between strawberries and pepper and hash.. its a lovely smell for sure.. the smoke is great.. it hits smoothes and expands in your lungs.. you get a nice flavor that has some nice berry undertones... followed by a nice peppery hash flavor that finishes.. hold in a hit and you'll cough your ass off... the high is nice and cerebral... makes you think about getting up and doing something..

white shark - very pungent smelling.. very sweet and skunky... the taste is the same way... the high is great.. more energetic i think... but to much can put you on your ass...

gigabud - the smell is citrus in nature.. somewhere between lemon and grapefruit i think... the smoke has a nice citrus pepper flavor to it... and the stone is couchlock style.. it can be mellow.. but a few bongrips and you'll be on your ass...

super lemon haze - you can not mistake the lemon smell or taste.... pretty incredible high also... uplifting yet keeps you down...

blueberry - nice berry smell.... not over powering at all.. smokes the same way... tastes like the name.. good to smoke throughout the day to maintain a steady high.... its not going to be the night cap..

matanuska tundra - i love this strain... the smell is sweet, skunky, and minty... more sweet and skunky tho... the taste is more of a skunk taste... very thick and rich.. the high makes me want to go out and take a walk or do something outside... i can see why they like it in alaska.. i like it best from a bong...

so i checked and both mygirls and nellyatcha guessed 2.5 lbs... but nelly gave 2 weights, so i am inclined to call mg the winner.. ill think about it over night and try to come up with an answer....

Howdy SS420, Cool that you know your yield, bummer that it wasn't up to your expectations. But, in no way could your grow be labelled a poor or under achieving one, because, dude you certainly kept me captivated.
I learned a great deal watching, and have applied those lessons to my own aero-ponics grow(which I should be harvesting some time around Thanksgiving if all goes well). I'm glad you were available, showing us the ropes, and sharing your grow with us all. Take a bow you deserve it.
I was hoping for 57 oz's so I could win, but in reality I already won, back when you helped me, with transplanting my high-potentcy Pinny Paraslyser clones from soil into my aero-ponics system. Because of that excellent advice, I'm looking at a monster yield, with my aero-ponics grow. The coolest thing is I'm having success doing something, I never dreamed I'd be capable of.
So in closing, don't be too hard on yourself, you did good, and shared it for all to see. And to whomever won, I'd like to suggest the 'sampler platter', although I haven't tried it. It looked killer on the menu.
