So you are reducing bulb temperature only, not ballast temperature? Sounds good to me......

I think I better get my outdoor prepped. When is the last frost for you guys? Or when you can transplant outside?
late april or mid may. they way my winter is going hell if it wasn't for all the rain and hellashis winds i would be growing outdoors right now,it has been a harm winter here so far, but all can change in a day

well i just got the dimmer switch hooked up. 120 volt 600wtt max i have it hooked up to my 1000wtt hps. stand by for results. ok so it dims just so slightly youcan barly see it dim. i call this test a bust. and i got another male out of the crystle. not to bad so far

Simpson can you lend a minute of your expertise please. Having a few problems. Ok to start off, I use tap water with a ph of 7.5 and the ec is 250 before adding nutes and then after the nutes are added (and ph down) the ph is 5.9 and ec is 1200. Have an oscilating fan blowing at the light (hot spot) and an exhaust fan venting the room. the day time temps are 75-80 and night time is 60-65, not sure of res water temp should i monitor that as well? I water every other hour for 10 minute during lights on and once during lights off for 2 minutes. 1000 MH 24" from tops. The nutes i'm using are DNF this is whats in them.

Part A bloom nutes
Total N 3%
.22% ammoniacal nitrogen
2.78% nitrate nitrigen
Soluble potash 3%
Calcium 2.30%

Part B bloom nutes
Total N 1%
1% nitrate nitrogen
phosphate .5%
solube potash 3%
Molybdenum 0.0012%

It says to mix it up at 5ml A and 5ml B to 1 litre of water. I mixed up 250ml for 100L thats half strengh. Should i be adding anything else to my mix or just get different nutes? I think thats all for now
Here are some pics the one on the right is cupping down with spots and the left has the spots starting but no cupping

im not sammy he has the insite on the nutes for you but as for the res temp yes that is important. you don'twant it to cold or to harm. if i remember hearing right i think he has said 65 to 68 degrees for res temp. im a soil man so for your nutes imnot sure on that one. but does sound right to me. looking at yourpics are you foilage feeding them

no foilage feeding at all and yeah i think the rez water is cooler then that. how can i get it to stay warmer?
checking the temp of water now will let you know what it is

well if it better then last year you better be making a road trip this year no excuses. i will definitely be needing some help
make sure to let me know this time!! i found out through larry.. lol

its been fairly mild up here also.. still in the low 30s.. but manageable...

sorry the test was a bust and you got a male... thats a bummer... how many more crys do you have??

ec and ph are great...

if the nutes are working well just stick with them... i personally use general hydroponics 3 part flora series... and then have additives i use.. i can give you a complete run down if you want... but if you stick with what you are using and get some liquid karma and some cal-mag that should be sufficient... i guess it just depends on what you want to spend as far as that goes...

res temp is important... warmer water holds less dissolved oxygen... so unless you have an air pump going all the time it is important to keep the res temp down... 65 to 75 is ideal.. i keep my water chillers set at 68 plus have air stones going... a cheap way to keep temps down is to freeze water bottles full of water and throw them in the res... when they melt replace them with new frozen bottles and refreeze the ones that thawed out...

it seems you are watering a lot also.. i only water for 15 minutes 4 times a day... you may be slightly over watering your girls... you should cut back to 2 or 3 waters with lights on and 1 when lights are off.. or just 1 time every 4 hours...

checking the temp of water now will let you know what it is
get an aquarium heater than is temp programmable... so if the temp drops below a certain temp it kicks on... dont let the water temp exceed 75 degrees..

These are the veg and bloom nutes
Why would the bloom nutes have more N in them then the veg nutes:?:
bottle pics
to ensure your plant gets enough N during flowering to stay green.. since you dont use veg nutes during flowering, but sometime use bloom nutes in addition to veg nutes during veg, the N value is typically larger in the bloom nutes in these types of situations.. if that makes sense...

So the res temp is 58 i think it's a little low.
if its that cool all the time that could be a problem.. it causes slow growth.. the roots are too cold...

i gave a friend the rest ofthe crystal maybe 8 seeds that was all of them i had. i think i have 1 or 2 more in the veg room. going to move the last 3 plants over to flower2marrow. i just went and baught a new buget grow 1000wtt hps ballast and sunmaster bulb150,000 system lumens. flower room is bright now.

i know how bright it is in my rooms with all the lights under reflectors.. i cant imagine how bright it is with those batwing reflectors you have... just with the bulb open... that'd be crazy... do you wear sunglasses when you go in there?? lol

I thought i was having a problem with build up so i flushed my plants with a ph of 5.8 and ppm/ec 150 and when i was finished the flush the ph was at 6.4 and ppm/ec was 400. Would this be considered a bad build up of nutes/salts and why would the ph jump so much

I have the same damn problem with my room. I blame it on the vertical lighting. I have a dark hallway to head down after leaving the grow room then a few sets of stairs, that are also under lighted.

Needless to say, I have "fallen" victim many times...... My sunglasses were jacked out of the car recently..... uh.......... another day in paradise.

well the last part of the question, the part about ph, is the first thing i'll answer... when you first add your water and nutes to the res and check the ph you get one number... if you go back a few hours later there is a good chance it has drifted one way or another since then... there are multiple reasons why this happens... everything from the plant itself to chemical reactions in the water taking place cause this... http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/floriculture/plugs/ph.pdf that has some sick info in it depending on how much you want to know... but i have easily had .5 to .8 shifts over night after res changes.. thats why i will adjust when i first add everything.. go back a couple hours later.. readjust if needed.. and maybe adjust 1 more time after that.. but usually 2 times is all i need... point being dont sweat over the ph after the flush.... as long as you keep your ph in check throughout the grow on a day to day basis your fine.. and really, 6.4 is still in range anyways.. just slightly out of the "perfect" ph.. but very close and acceptable...

as far as the ppm goes, it depends on how much water your res holds.. but a 250ppm jump isnt that much either.. if you were up in the 600 to 800 ppm range it would be scary.. but a few hundred ppm jump like that after a flush means things were pretty damn good to begin with and now they are really clean...

i probably should, hahahaha i can't see a damb thing when i come out.
lol i feel ya bro.. i really do..

i leave my grow room door open or cracked to let in fresh air.. since i am the only one living at my house and shit... you cant see it from outside of course.. so its all good.. anyways my bed room is opposite the hall of my grow.. so when i wake up in the morning and walk out in the hall, if i am not prepared i am blinded by sun light.. lol even after a year that is been this way i still do the same thing..

thats fucked your shit got stolen... little kids that break into cars, or anyone for that matter, should have their knee caps broke...

took some pics today.. i was bored... well i tried to take some pics anyways.. shits impossible to do at this point... the veg room is completely taken over.. wall to wall... except for enough space in the back to have a small fan sitting.. but it is soon going to be over ran also... this means the flower room, when these girls are flipped, will definitely be wall to wall... im going to have to figure out how to get in there and super crop again... but you'll be able to see in the pics why thats hard..

the autos are starting to have decent formation now... colas are starting to form.. buds are starting to grow together.. i think it is going to be a little longer on them than i thought at this point.. but i dont know what kind of growth to expect over the next couple weeks either.. it seems its about 3 weeks veg, 1 week transistion, and 4 weeks flower with the autos.. assuming they finish at the right time..

i like the autos too.. but definitely not something i could run all the time.. if i didnt have my two room setup i would run autos all the time.. but having the ability to veg and flower seperate makes it less appealing.. only because yeilds will be much less than with photo girls..

very true, but ever think of just using 1 auto to produce seeds with a photo girl? idk just some food for thought. a few extra in a veg room never hurts!
