Spring planting clarification

Our annual can be planted outdoors after last frost? It won't jump into flowering? Or should I wait until late spring to start? Does it recognize the lengthening daylight hours during spring and veg through? Iv only ever vegged for winter and flowered in spring.

I'm considering indoor lighting @16/6 through spring as well but I prefer the sun like many others.

I set my lights to be as close to the daylight hours when I plant in early May...so around 15 for me...that way they don't get confused... I have never had any problems with flowering early then reveg this way
