I'm planning a outdoor garden this year which should be pretty f'n rad but I need some input from Oregon RIU folks. What strains are doing well in the valley,What time of year are you putting them out, watering, food etc. I haven't done an outside crop in over 10yrs so some input is always welcome. Thanks:peace:

Hello, welcome to RIU. Here is some daylight info for you. http://astro.unl.edu/classaction/animations/coordsmotion/daylighthoursexplorer.html
Put them out anytime after last frost sometime around May 15th. make sure you harden them off first. Harvest in Oct. food, yes. water often. good luck.

I will be starting a journal about my grow which will show strains,space,costs,problems/solutions,photos etc. but I'm always open to advice and ideas.....

The light guide should help you pick strains. I'd say the hardest thing for me outside is wanting things to go a bit longer but the fall rains usualy put a damper on things and its a race. I put up large tents (carports) to cover in fall when rain comes to extend the season and give me time to harvest a bit at a time rather than all at once. Watch for mold and bud rot. The quicker the strain finishes the better IMO. Things start to flower around the firs week of August and finish sometime in Oct. so your looking at 9 weeks.

As far as overhead and space... are you trying to be stealthy? If not, I would give the girls at least 10 feet each and put them in the ground if you have good drainage or into 200 gal+ Smart pots if not. Fill with a quality soil mix and watch the show. Water and feed when needed. Put cages around them to support the branches. I probably have about $200 into ea. 200 gal smart pot. and about $80 a hole for each plant that is directly in the ground.

Stealthy isn't really a concern,I'm friends with my neighbors and have acres with 8ft cyclone fence+ and 6 hemphill/WallaceXcolby dogs that don't like fence jumpers much. I need to figure out where I can have my soil samples tested do I can figure out what to do in terms of where I will plant. I plan to frame off a greenhouse where the ladies will go and cover them once humidity and liquid sunshine become a factor.

Nice lady! You must be down south ?
your days are just as long, longer in fact, durring the summer anyway. So if your farther north, just pick a quicker finisher or as you said greenhouse them in fall. They like the cold weather. just not the wet.

Southern Or and Northern Ca are the best places to grow. Can almost grow year round if it wasnt for the random rain here and there...

That's not too bad... got what, 5 or 6 months of solid outdoor growing until first frost?
about 5 months yes, longer if you have a green house at the end of the season.
most people around here veg them up to 5-6 ft before putting them outside

I'm drooling over your indoor lineup. Great strains. Would offer advice but on the coast.

http://www.soilminerals.com/soiltestservices.htm soilminerals does not do the testing, but they can write you a prescription to balance your soil after the soil test. read on their site. Great book and products as well.
