Spouting & Mold

Sorry y'all they didn't make it. 2 of 3 tap roots retired back into their shell while under coco coir. 1 tap root grew an extra 1/8 and the tap root broke. So obviously they didn't make it. I don't suggest coir by it self.

What's up y'all,
Thanks for stopping in to help. Firstly..
I germinated 3 seeds. 2 Sweet Tooth 1 OG. I soaked them in a glass of water til they dropped than between two wet paper towels in a zip lock for another 24/48hrs. Each grew a taproot.
On the 8th of August I planted them into Coco-Coir about a quarter inch deep and lightly sprinkled some water over top of the coir. I then put a plastic bag over the top (to act as a humidity dome). They have been under 2 CFL (1650 lumes each) for 18/6. Today is the 14th and still no sprouting. Also I removed the plastic bags and noticed a very very small piece of mold in the corner on top of the coir.

Can anyone tell me wtf is going on ?
Why hasn't it sprouted ? Why is there mold ?

I read up more on coir and I heard you can mix it with soil or add 40% perlite. I also read you can just use as is and it will be fine (which is what I did). Did I fk up ? Any suggestions? Ps. I've left the humidity dome off now. Pictures included.

Any help and/or comments are welcomed and greatly appreciated ! Thank you in advance.

I grow in coco but always start my seeds in soil. I've had issue popping seeds in straight coco.
You don't want to use a humidity dome.

Transplant risk is high for newly popped seeds, so really no need to do it. Domes take your humidity to 100% which is perfect for damping off.

What is damping off ?
Several fungi can cause decay of seeds and seedlings including species of rhizoctonia, fusarium and phytophthora. However, species of the soil fungus pythium are most often the culprit. Damping off typically occurs when old seed is planted in cold, wet soil and is further increased by poor soil drainage.

Damping off (or damping-off) is a horticultural disease or condition, caused by a number of different pathogens that kill or weaken seeds or seedlings before or after they germinate. It is most prevalent in wet and cool conditions.

Basically the stem rots killing the seedling.

Just sprout those seeds in straight soil with no dome. I'm not a fan of the paper towel method since you have to disturb the newly sprouted seed. Just soak overnight in water and plant directly. The seed will germinate in the soil as well as it will in paper towels.

I just throw seeds in root cubes and get 'em wet, no soaking, no paper towel, have never had any problems.

I recently broke my decade long rapid rooter habit! now I soak seeds and put them directly into a cup of promix. Better clones, faster roots. winning!
So tell me because tomorrow morning my seeds will be ready to plant...? They have been germinating for 48hrs and sunk to the bottom of the glass of water. Do you suggest I plant directly into soil or should I put them in a wet paper towel and germinate another 24hrs ? The tap roots are barley showing.

Any suggestions?????????
