Spidermites... WWIII

a friend of mine once said to kind, half-joking, but half-not joking, that the only way to really get rid of spider mites is to move to a new location and get new pots, soil, etc. otherwise its a battle you pretty much cant win..

Very informative post!!!!

I'm in on the battle against these little vampires too. I've been spraying with stuff recomended by a friend, but they are persistent little shits.

I decided to implement another step, I gave my girl a nice shower and I think I may try the alcohol/water mix too!!

Use all the artilerry I can!

Would love to hear an update on the floramite and how that worked out for you. Thanks again!!

u can enclose ur plant in a plastic bag and introduce the co2 for a few hours it will kill the mites but not the eggs, u will have to do it again in 1 week

preditor mites work well if u can keep them in ur grow room. u can also try to lower the temp in ur room. u can put clones outside for a week or two so the cold night slows down reproduction of new mites.

its hard to get rid of them but u have to basicly redo your grow room and clean everything w a bleach soulution

Doktor doom carries a product called KO Spider-Mites works wonders!! I do have a case of AVID that i got but that's only if shit gets hecktic but doktor doom can be applied to "fruit" i'd would only recommend it if your no less than 5 weeks of flowering on a 8 week flowering the permehrin in the application should disolve pretty rapidly under HID plust you hang dry for another week cure for a month etc... heres a link on what permethrin is http://www.doktordoom.com/permwhat.htm.

p.s
dont ever spray while lights on you should spray right after lights off...

for another update...
i used that floramite about 3 weeks ago, knocked the bastards out that day and haven't seen any moving critters in the room yet!!! so, the alcohol/water worked pretty good, and I would recommend that for any plants later in flower or any infestation that is in the early stages, but, if you have a full blown infestation I cannot recommend floramite enough... worked like a charm for me, i'm planning on doing all plants in the room every 3 weeks from now on, the last time they will get the floramite will be week 3 flower...

yea dude that will work im pretty sure..if you are running CO2 you can raise it higher and kill them bastards off.

i havnt tried this myself but was told it works u just have to be careful you dont kill your plants too.

Ice
this probly wont work. ants can hold breath underwater for days on end. cockroaches have been around forever... bugs usually can live thru some serious atmospheric punishment if its not poison. and youd have unload a whole 40 lber to saturate the room enough and itd have to be mega air tight, and how are you gonna hit the xhaust back on lol hope u got a timer. dont try walkin into that saturated room or you wont make it over to the dial ha

Sorry, slightly off topic but I think it is worth reading..

If you have used the no pest strip before with poor results, did you try taping it to your fan? First time I just set it in the room overnight. I came back to find the spidermites hardly affected. The next night I taped it on the fan and I the next day I only found one mite. I figure if I keep it up the eggs will hatch and die and leave no chance for more eggs to be lay. I put it in a ziplock bag while not in use.

And I'd trust these things for no more than 1 week.. They lose potency past 1 week or so and don't work for the little devils.

I think it ruins flavor I've had to use a bomb twice now and I'm all essential oils. they are the main ingredient in almost every late flower product like final answer or rossenthals.

Has anyone herd of Osage orange's ?(softball sized fruit lime green)you just site it in corners of room
they are sed to keep spiders and bugs away! but no good scientific proof.
I have been over run with spider mites and I'm back in control for now but I'm going to try the Osage orange to get them OUT!
folks around here say they keep spiders and bugs out of basement's,barns.
lets hope they work on spider mites!
anyone

I tried a few methods and they held back the mites pretty well until I could pick up a bottle of "End All II"

- soapy water : washed a bunch away
- alcohol : they must have thought a nuclear bomb went off because they pretty much vanished
- garlic water : simmered a crushed garlic clove in water for half an hour and then sprayed the plant and soil with the liquid. seemed to help keep them at bay at least until the next hatch.

Now they're back and active but I bombed them with the End All II as soon as I got back with it today. Fingers crossed.

Another organic method to try is to soak some lemon peels in water. The lemon oil will be drawn out into the water, and you can put the lemon water in a sprayer and coat the leaves. The lemon oil affects the wax in the "lung" structures of the mites. Not really lungs, but they breathe through em anyway.

Good luck
