is it possible to get a spider mite infestation using a hydro or aeroponic system? I was thinking probably not because of the lack of soil or other growing medium.

Basically the only thing I'd need to look out for would be mold/algae as far as pests and infestation go.

Btw I love RIU.. My first post but I've been lurking for a whiiiile.

Misconception me and my buddies did hydro years ago and had to always combat mites. My source of mite problem was my cat and so was theirs.

ladybugs!

my local hydro store sells 1500 for 13 bucks, and they hibernate in the fridge for like 3 weeks and stay alive so you can gradually release them.

there are absolutely NO bad effects from having ladybugs, plant-wise. They're like bulldogs for your garden.

They also eat aphids as well as the eggs of mites and aphids, probably other small insects too.

check this pic out:

Granted it was probably just a big orgy, but that plant went on to be one of my strongest...

I always give my babies a avid dip. the avid stays with the plant and anything that tries to eat the plant (spider mites, aphids, etc.) get poisoned and die. The best part is that it is perfectly safe for humans, just don't drink it. The avid lasts 3 months and can be applied by dipping rooted cuttings or foliar spray. Neem oil is also an option.

...softer side?!

fuck that, I want MASS MITE MURDER. Mites keep little syringes around and mainline Raid & Black Flag for shits and giggles. I've seen 'em. Kid you not, little fuckin' junkies. They get ripped to the tits on weak poisons (well, so do we) and then go suck your plants dry.

I'm back with the info:

Azatrol Organic Insect Control

Azatrol is a broad-spectrum botanical insecticide with virtually no insect resistance. This foliar spray works on ALL plant feeding insects and mites, both indoor and outdoor! Azatrol (a neem oil derivative) is chosen by the industry professionals.
The multiple modes of action within Azatrol liquid concentrate make it virtually impossible for insect resistance to develop. Larvae treated with Azatrol will experience decreases in weight gain, delayed or disrupted molting and an inability to shed old body capsules and, generally, death. In the event of larva escaping growth regulation, pupa and adult growth is affected, leaving them unfit, malformed or dead.
Azatrol prevents and rids insects using 3 defined sciences:
Anti-feedant: Azatrol affects the movement of food through the insect’s digestive system. Food stays in the gut so feeding is suppressed. Insects will feed less or not at all on treated foliage, ultimately starving to death.
IGR: Azatrol disrupts the maturation cycle of the insect by affecting hormones that regulate growth. Insects will fail to mature and reproduce.
Repellent/Ovipositioning deterrent: Simply put, many insects will not lay eggs on treated plant tissue, therefore acting as a repellent.
Azatrol is OMRI listed and certified organic!
Shake bottle before use. Apply prior to infestation or as soon as pests are observed. When possible, spray during the morning or evening hours, at 7 to 14 day intervals. Active Ingredient: 1.2% Azadirachtin----------I've been using this shit for almost a year a little goes a long way---I use it as a prevent spray and havn't seen one bug since I started using it----

sweet, azatrol it is! If that doesnt work then I'll look into the avid but the fact that azatrol is organic is a plus. Idk if avid is organic as well but this seems like it'll do just fine.

i use azatrol and so far i love it. i am scared of avid because my buddy gave me some (i hear its illegal in california, but cannot confirm) and told me how i should be careful because his uncle got enphezema and skin cancer from it. he then handed me a full chemical suit and told me to be careful, lol. needless to say, i still have not used that avid he gave me...

oh, bullshit. Can't believe some of you chemical wussies.

When you get around to reapplying azahellokitty the third time because there's still mites in there, I MIGHT let you have some of the Avid I have stockpiled. ;)
