I'm pretty sure I have spider mites. My leaves are getting yellow spots on the top. The ones doing this though are ones I planted late so there only about a month old. Will pesticide hurt them?!?!

use neem oil its better than pesticides and it will help take care of the problem or use some burning sulfer if you have it indoors but not in the living area of the house

A cheap option is to mix 1/2-1floz of pine-sol with a gallon of water and spray the leaves every couple days for a week or two. Pine-sol is safe, cheap, biodegradable and you can use it to wash your floors. Its pretty much the same as the Safers soap. I used to work in a greenhouse and we used pine-sol and water for almost every pest, for the same reasons listed above. Good Luck

Two questions for you guys...

1. So I can use Pine-sol on my plants without hurting them to get rid of pest?

2.Just wondering what's the deal with the lady bugs ( how do they protect your garden?

Peace

Really? And I had one on one of my plants but I removed it and put it somewhere else thinking it would harm my plants. Will they actually hang around my plants ( plants inside in a corner of a vacant room ) or will they eventually fly off?
the lady bugs will eat the spider mites

will the little sugar water keep the ladybud on your plants when your plants are outside, i can see them staying on if your plants are inside i used to bring ladybugs in my room from outside but to keep them on my outside plants was imposable but if the sugar water works cool

do you spray your plants with the sugar water or what:mrgreen:

I found this post searching for solutions to the same problem. Because it is sort of a Sunday night emergency I took the advice of joedirt420 above and spritzed my plants with a solution of Pine Sol and water. I used 3/4 of an oz in a gallon of water.

It seemed okay. I don't think it will kill the plants, but I do think there is some question if it will kill all of the horrible freaking creatures. I'm going to repeat daily (probably) for a week or so.

I did all of the leaf bottoms and stems, most of the tops. I also spritzed the top layer of the dirt, and the buckets and water trays, and the floor and a good deal of the walls.

I had a friend that used a sulpher burner when he had the problem. No discussion. He did the burn, twice I think, each time he had the problem, and it seemed to work.

Here is what I found online regarding the sulpher burn device:

SHIT , if all this worked i would have rid myself of these long ago.

i have fought to control my mite population, i have never stopped the mites
i have used predators and pesticides, soaps,

the most effective mite control was wiping the leaves and killing them by hand!
i have nearly rid myself, of mites.

when u crop out ,insect bomb your room, and dip your clones in some pesticide. its a a never ending battle, i just try not to get them in the first place. i use safers pesticide every three days and also spray the floor. i wipe my shades down and take a shower before i work in my rooms.
