spider mites 3 1/2 weeks in..... quick question

Hey I'm sold on the no pest strips been doing a lot of homework, think these will work out best for my situation. My question is how many should I use in a room that is 8x8x12..... It is a sealed room, so I know these will kill the little fuckers based on posts I've read, but was curious how many I should put? I'm gonna do some of that mighty wash too if I need it just wanted to try this first and see if I can eliminate the problem this way......If you have experience with these strips can you help me out, just looking to kill the bugs lol......Also if it helps I have 12 monsters (I'm short but after stretch they were taller than me) in a section about 5x8x8 its a jungle in there ....the other half is for veg/work space with mothers and whatnot so I need to put 1 or 2 or 3 in there as well just don't know how many?

just 1 will be effective, be careful using them they are posionous to humans and can cause cancer with prolonged exposure (but hey weed cures cancer so that balances right?), really not meant for areas that people frequent regularly. i havent used these strips myself but i had considered using them at one point so i did some research.
Also dont use around flowering plants as they can leave a residue on ur buds, vegging plants should be washed with clean water before flowering.
you will need the strip up for at least 3 weeks to break the life cycle of the mites

Try neem oil man its natural you just mix it in with some water and spray it on wont harm the plant at all and will get rid of the mites used to get them all the time when I lived in more humid climates. I spelled neem right and you can find it at any co-op or whatever its almost like in the vitamin section

I was meaning to say they are in flower now, is what I meant by 3 1/2 weeks in I did 3 full on soaks with floramite like 2 months ago and thought I rendered the problem and wanted to wait a bit before I turned the lights to be sure they were gone, never take clones from friends lol.....most cases I hear people say they show signs of them coming back in a few weeks so I thought I was good cause I didn't see any or any signs of them..... but their back, how bad is this residue supposed to be if any at all?????? You say you have not used the no pest strips? Have you ever seen an end result bud that was in a room with a pest strip? I'm just curious.... I need to do something and I need to do something now before it gets outta hand, I got 6 weeks to go........

its takes aproximately 3 weeks for spider mite eggs to hatch and then they need to develop into adults before laying eggs and they lay a shit ton of eggs, even a few survivors going unnoticed can quickly repopulate a colony once they get going which is why repeat treatments with insecticidal soap every 3 weeks is recomended even if u dont see any bugs.
while i have no direct evidence of the harmful effects the strips have on flowering buds a quick google of "no pest strip indoor grow" will return many discusions where the overall opinion is they are not safe for use around buds.
use at own risk.
I personnaly recomend the good old pepper spray (recipes are everywhere) as its the safest treatment for budding plants, repeat once a week for at least a month

Hey man, i am just going to give an opinion based on my use and experience with them. I would put 2-3 in that room minimum and don't leave them in there for more than 2-3 days. Then rotate with something else like azamax, habanero, neem drench, whatever... for the next treatment at 2-3 day interval... then hit them again with the NPS for another 2 days. You are on the borderline for using NPS at all based on what I have researched so do it now if you are going to. From what I have read NPS are very bad/carcinogens when people are exposed to the fumes when they are "off gassing". They should never be used when the grow is connected or above your growing area (definitely don't use if the grow is in an attic etc). The half life of the Dichlorvos (probably not spelled right) is about 6 hours so it is not likely to linger and dissipates quickly with proper ventilation. Do your own due diligence on them... it is not something to implement lightly.

Also, they do not retain their mite killing strength at the listed 4 months of use. I store mine in ziplocks but after 2 weeks of use outside the ziplock I introduce an extra one for a smaller area than you have. I usually won't even mention them because I believe they are dangerous and any person using them needs to do their own research for proper/appropriate use. But, you did ask specifically... I don't want to get into any BS debate about it, just sharing my thoughts. Good Luck.

Edit: removed Floramite recommendation (spaced out on being in flower)

agree with Cascadian. Qty and length of time in room and rotation of other miticides. They don't really last very long especially if you have a lot of air flow around room. When you're done with them, a higher humidity helps to break down the DDVP in the room.

I was thinking they would be pretty easy to use, just hang them up and let them kill those buggers....... :)

also I used floramite already back over almost 7 weeks ago, and from what I read at this point 3 1/2 weeks floramite is not an option

SPOT ON! Organic solutions maybe the best...

Also look into this http://www.liquidladybug.com

it's said to KILL the egg's thus no more spider mites... i've had a issue last summer with spider mites and caterpillars and will be armed this summer

it's OK to spray your plant while it's in flower. i just personally wouldn't do so once it's past week 5-6. You then increase the change of bud rot if you do not have proper ventilation!

Nice catch, you are right. Floramite should not be used IMO after the flip to 12/12 based on my research.

I just got some floramite delivered and am dealing with some mites in my veg room. I think it was just a brain fart based on where my efforts were at.

+rep for catching it and possibly stopping someone from using it in flower...

BSD0621, have you used liquid lady bug stand alone or otherwise and had success killing off the eggs?

Agreed that any organic solution is best BTW. I use a DIY organic supersoil but like the results adding some Flora Nova in flower (non-organic). The only non-organic means of controlling bugs I use is the NPS. I think though dangerous, it can be used safely and responsibly in the right circumstance.

I remember trying every organic DIY tea/spray/oil there is and having the mites kick my ass a week later. I then introduced the NPS about a week before azamax. They both made my life a lot easier. An all out assault is required to kill them IMO, shit I will probably have to move houses before I am rid of them!

follow the directions on the package if you live in the area. me I could give a shit less I bought 1 strip per light and had 10 strips in a 10 by 20 room over kill. neem oil slows them down works like total shit. olive oil and soapy water works as well. in my opinion olive oil works a lot better then neem and it don't stink like candy and people smoke the weed cant taste olive oil . neem you can nasty taste shit.

Thanks for the tip on higher humidity speeding the breakdown of DDVS BarnBuster.

kinddiesel, did you use the NPS at 1 per light in veg or flower? How far into flower would you use them?

Neem does slow them down, IMO it makes it easier for the other products in rotation to do their job. I agree on the neem tasting like shit too, I only use it as a root drench it helps a lot to not spray it on the leaves.

Might want to try Mighty Wash

I used it at first signs of mites and it works.
There is a guy on here and I don't know if he works for mighty wash or not, but sounds like the guy thinks its the cure all. but after reading all the horror stories people have had with these bugs I am willing to try anything, that wont kill the plants (or me) lol. I was hoping the NPS would only have to be introduced for a bit killing them off and then taking them out of room once the dust (I mean fumes) have settled. I also read a long thread on habanero spray, and I'm not lazy but it just sounds like you're messing with fire there (literally) guys saying they cant breath, touching leaves after application and hands fell like they are on fire. One guy said he had to pee and burned his dick (don't really want to do that). I was trying to go all organic, using organic nutes and teas and all. But I have to win this battle, this is my forst run in years and forgot what a bitch these mites actually are. I don't see webs yet (so that's a good sign) I just watered tonight so tomorrow, I'm just gonna go to home depot and throw 4 or 5 of these things in there for 2-3 days and not go in there except to take them out.... Hopefully this will solve the issue since its a sealed room I should get some good penetration. Hopefully I am at the point that there wont be a residue build up since I have like 6 more weeks to go. If it dosent work im buying gallons of mighty wash and I'll try that.........

I hope I'm not fighting a loosing battle here, I have the grow in garage that is not attached to the house and im sure I pick up every bug you can think of on me and my walk out there. It is all dirt from house to garage. I always take my shoes off before entering. I think I need to build a shower in my garage and sterilize myself before I go in. This is why I chose the sealed room, in hopes to not introduce anything I don't want in there. I have to do a lot more preventative things in the future that's for sure.... What was I thinking?

okay so plan of action: NPS try for 3 days.... if still signs then Mighty Wash.....if still signs then Liquid Ladybug.......? Sound like that should do it? I fucking hope so........
