Spider mite verification.. w Pix! :)

Newbygardener for the wifes 215. She wants to try new meds minus buying. Six plants, dont know strains really. Done my homework on bugs. Kinda Confused. Wifes first grow. My first in 22 years. Got six ladies donated a month ago. Most of them veged nicely. Stuck em in pots and ground in the garden...unfortunately there are sad looking grape plants in the same area.. that are dying off similiarly. Yea, I will remove them and clean up my garden.. I watch these babies religiously for her. A few days ago I noticed some browning leaves. Yesterday I look close and see lil tiny buggers crawling on the leaves... see pics! Most plants started blooming last couple daze. One started a couple weeks ago.. as pictured. Thats the bad one. Others are starting to show damage. The bloomer has about 25 percent of the leaves effected as of today.. them bugs multiply fast I say. Brown rough areas, tiny black spots that look like shit, some have a shiny sheen areas on the top. No complete holes through the leaves for the most part. Kinda conflicting from what I read between mites and aphids. No webs yet that I can see. Seems like they are mostly on the lower older leaves. Not on buds or new leaves. Need to make sure the wife is happy and this is a new attempt for her to get off docs pain drugs. Any comments appreciated... really looking to see if these are spider mites or ??. I couldnt wait.. today I borrowed some Neem oil and sprayed a gallon between the meds and reg garden. Good news is that top bud grew an 1/2" between yesterday and today... haha told ya I watch em close! IAmGMan

Sprayed Neem last night after post.. very well as I could using a hand spray bottle. I still see a few.. very few today. Went to the grow store bought myself 2,000 helpers.. lady bugs. Hopefully I wont have to spray again. That shit smells bad, even the next day. I used 2 tsp per quart of 100 neem with a couple tsp of dawn. I also cut out the two old grape plants.. tons of fruit? type flyers took off as I cut and dragged them away.. shoulda known. Leaves have damage similiar to my 420. So bet they had the spider mites as well. Nice clean garden area this evening

i also have had one hell of a battle with these little evildoers. ive been using neem oil for 2 mos. now and it hasnt done anything but slow their progress and you cant use it during flowering!!!!! im pissed and fed up after all my hard to have this happen. isnt it frustrating? so this is what ive done. Last week i went to homedepot and got a hotshot no pest strip. i hung it in the direct area above my budding plants. they are not too far along so i think it should be ok. I have to eradicate these things once and for all last resort though as i didnt want to have to use these hot shot strips at all. hung it there with no fans on as to let the stuff permeate the air around my girls. Anyways i hung it there overnight and shut my room up . the next day i took it away from the direct area around my plants and placed it in the same room away from the plants and repeated same thing the next night for another 12 hrs. when i checked yesterday it looked as though they had vanished i almost shit my pants, i was so pumped ya know. so i took it out of my room altogether. i checked today weds and the little motherfuckers were back my heart sank and my spine cringed ive got it back in there now and will keep you updated. keep up the fight cause these motherfuckers dont seem to take time off lolol.

MIGHTY WASH is the future. but doesnt hurt to use 2 diff types.. I personally use Mighty Wash then two weeks later i use Neem.. to prevent the bugs from getting immune. Mighty Wash is the best ANTI MITE solution now days though

The op might not find no pest strips effective in an outside grow.
I did the same thing last thursday, got some no pest strips and saw huge results by lights on the next day.
I've used neem, azamax, and organicide with no where the same positive results as the hot shot.
Not to mention spending hundreds of dollars and untold hours spraying, instead of tending to the plants needs.
Fourteen dollars spent on no pest strips that, so far have out performed all the sprays by far in every way.
Yesterday I did notice a few mites on the outside of a couple of my pots but again, no where
near the hundreds or maybe thousands I see within days of spraying.
My hope is the mites I'm seeing now are newly hatched and were somehow protected by their eggs until now.
It's only been six days but i'm very impressed so far.
I have seen absolutely no further mite damage to any of my plants since last thursday. I can not say that about plants I've sprayed.
Even with spraying it seems like some mites are programmed not to care and damage plants anyway.
I will be taking the girls out at lights on tonight for a much closer inspection.
I'm not sure of the reproductive cycle of mites in terms of time, but you can't expect to of won the battle in two or three days with
the no pest strip. Keep hope in their death alive!

Probo thanks for sharing bill hicks with me im still laughing my ass off. Me being a comedy buff should have seen some of his material in the past but have only heard of him, wow what a blast. Anyhow you are right , i wouldnt opt for using hot shot outdoors as i dont think it would work. I went into my grow area today and found no trace of mites, just eggs so i think ill leave it in there for at least another three days as ive found out that the eggs take three to four days to hatch. how long did you leave yours in and have they all been gone since or have you had to do it more than once? keep me posted thanx again for sharing. the budsizzler lol.

Still ... Mighty Wash is the NEWEST Best Shyt out their. hands down. look it up. it will save you, and you dont gotta wait overnight hoping you trapping shyt

Dude dont tell him to use AVID that shit is meant for Ornamental Plants.. Get something thats Legit. we have many Grow Supply Super Stores here where I am, like warehouses full of everything you need to grow down to the Harvest curing equip.. and since Years ago with my 1st mite issue.. I have been told by growers all over to never Use Avid and if you are you simply diddnt look into ridding them enough. Many products that will get it done, why use one that ppl dont recommend you use.

Update... just a few mites to be found here and there. My 2,000 ladies flew the coop for the most part.. so much for those gals helping me out. No matter, I am going to do another application of something here this weekend as the eggs should be hatching soon. Neem smells, and now my plants are all in bloom. The plant that had mites worst is coming along just fine (as shown).. the buds are growing faster than we imagined.. only two weeks since bloom.. nice =D

I was thinking same.. on how pest strips could work outdoors. Does not seem likely. I will do some homework on mighty wash.. anyone know where to get this product? We have more grow stores than you can shake a stick at here in Norcal, I will check around but if a big box carries it, maybe cheaper?

ITS 98% water and other ingredients are inert.. You dont even need to wash it off the plants.. let it dry and no more mites. CAN BE USED IN BLOOM.. No side effects, Just dry it really good.

@gman ima need mah neem oil back ina week or so for final spay to keep away powder mold. the redwood kush that wus donated to u is prone to it easliy. that is y i need it soon, but i last sprayed it a week ago so im good for moment being

i had a mild mite problem that coulda went bad quicly....bought me some neem oil and its been 2 days showing improvement on my alien og... i am outdoors so not sure if that has any effect or not but i have positive results so far

Is this a product where you spray and the results impress you; only to find four, five, six days later
the mites are once again crawling on your pots and plants?

I've used some oils, and to hear people talk, it's as if they're miracles which is misleading in a lot of cases. Neem, Azamax, and Organicide in my limited use of all three do nothing more than prolong the inevitable return of mites and damaged plants.
I've rotated them, sprayed plants every three days, systemic feeding and the results are always the same. More spraying, more money spent at the grow store, and more salesmen telling me how great Neem is for mites.

I'm always interested in using things less harmful than potentially toxic products when possible, but at this point
i've switched to no pest strips. The money I spend on oils to simply slow down and prolong damage to plants isn't worth it.
I've sprayed plants very late in flowering with plain water and had as good of results as spraying with Neem.
I actually am interested to know Mighty Wash is a mite killer or a mite manager.
I don't mind spraying plants but I don't want my gardening time to be dedicated to fighting mites any more than absolutely nessessary

Well, I talked to the owner of a grow store in Sactown about Mighty Wash.. as they carried NPK products, only had a lil in stock and no Mity Wash. He said he has used all three of thier line and did not have good results, and therefore wont restock it. So... not knocking anyone's impression of the product, but I am going to pass on it for now considering the $40 gal cost. This morning I checked the plants pretty well. Did not see any mites. I gave them all a good low volume, moderate pressure spray down with the garden hose after reading mites dont like water.. haha. I will just do this in the morning every so often.. and maybe another application of neem oil lower down on the branches. I just dont want that oil in the buds ya know.. heres a pic from this morning after the girls came outta the shower... The second pic is the same plant only 4 weeks ago before i put her in the ground. Amazing how fast they grow up.

Yesterday found another eaten leaf covered in those lil tiny yellow mites crawling around.. did another application of neem on all my plants before the sun went all the way down with a nice breeze. They dried nicely. Next stop, Azatrol. No more F'n around with em..

azatrol safe for plants? can it be used 3weeks b4 harvest? does it need to be rinsed off after treatment abd if so how do you rinse it off
