Hello! Recently purchased 4 Spider farmer 1000 lights and I see they come in two different frame sizes?

The listed size is 11.8” X 10.5”and two of my lights match that. However I also have two lights that are 12”3/4 X 11”3/8

Just curious how this will effect the PAR ratings with the same amount of diodes in a larger footprint?

Anyone else notice this?

That's very interesting... Your Par won't be affected so don't worry about that. the difference in board size in minimal.
@Powertech you got 4 of these as well right?

Yes I have 4 of them. Looking at the model numbers on the boards, it looks like the larger are the newer version.
Maybe for better coverage and cooling?

Must be. same diode layout, same amount, bigger board. Only reason for that would be cooling. Spread wouldnt change for shit with that little of placement adjustment.

the air circulation at the top of my tent is pretty good, none of my lights are hot, not really even that warm

What do you expect from mars,it's all just low grade junk.
If you are calling the spider farmers junk you obviously don't know a lot about lights. I do not know anything about Mars however, they might be junk.

And yes, two different companies, still Chinese lol

Yep cheaper to buy an HLG DIY kit with boards that dont' require heat sinks
Wish I had done my research before pulling the trigger on my SF 1000's Really like the looks of the HLG 135 boards. Be perfect in my tent with my 315. Anyone want to buy a SF or 2? :wall:

The Spider Farmer line is not my cup of tea personally.

I am curious though if they haven't been performing up to your expectations or have any of them malfunctioned?

Mine hasn't malfunctioned in any way, it just doesn't provide enough light to veg a 3x3. I actually thought it would provide more heat than it does esp with the driver mounted on the top. I'll run it for the remainder of the year since the electrical savings after a year will have paid for the light.

I think they work great and if I had a 2 x 4 tent instead of a 4 x 4 tent I'd love them more than I do. They are just a little to small to cover the whole tent evenly with my 315. Its not bad but its not quite the coverage I'd really like to have. But honestly with the crazy all natural canopy I've got going it's kind of nice to be able to run them the way I am to be able to accommodate the height of my monster sativa.. Few snaps from water day..IMG_20200401_143315 (1).jpgIMG_20200401_124520 (2).jpgIMG_20200401_125043 (1).jpgIMG_20200401_141305 (2).jpg
