Speaker question

I'd ask on an audio forum but I'm not a member of any. When you buy a pair of speakers, mine are 100 watt alpines, is both of them 100 watt or are they 100 watt total? I got a 400 watt amp and if I'm really only running 200 watts I could run more speakers. Plus my car was a write off so if my new car is 6x9 in the back I gotta buy a new speaker set anyway.

Ahhh. Right up my alley on this one (MECP certified installer). If they Are labeled at 100 watts it is per speaker, but dont be fooled. Is that the max wattage or the rms wattage? The same thing applies to the amp. What type of amp? If it's a 4 channel, you could use it for all four speaker locations. That would be 100 wattsx4 (again depending on max or rms).

I got Alpine Type-R SPR-17C - Car speaker - 100 Watt - 2-way - coaxial - 6.5" They're 100 watt RMS. I always wondered if they thought I was an idiot or if I spent my money wisely lol

The amp is an Alpine PDX 4.100 (4 channel 100 watts each)

My sub system got stolen after my car was hijacked. Had a dead 350 watt sub in a nice 12 inch ported enclosure with a 1000 watt kenwood amp.

Next system is gonna be:
2x Cerwin-Vega VEGA154.2 15 inch 250 watt RMS
1x Hifonics HFI1000.1D 1000 watt amp
and a double 15 inch ported enclosure

My neighbours complained about my 350 watter! Fuckers complain about this!

if i remember correctly, RMS is .707 of peak wattage. i dont remember the other number though. i think its like 1.4 or something. so i believe your max wattage would have to stay under like 140, and the RMS under 100. for each speaker

its been a while since electronics class though lol
