Its the authoritarians that want to bring us back into the dark ages, not the libertarians, again... authoritarianism is an ancient idea. Liberty is the new idea. MLK is an example of one who fought for liberty as is Ron Paul. It is the authoritarian who corrupted democracy in their heartless disdain and disrespect for not only ethics but human life. This is exactly what we have been fighting for since the Revolution at every turn and they are winning this over and over, we have only had small victories, not to discredit those victories because they are never less than any other country in the world . If we all stand the moral high ground like MLK and others have that is how we turn the tables.

So this is why I choose that MLK speech for this thread, because it is very accurate on this topic, each and every line. From the very start: "All we said to America is 'Be True to what you said on paper'"

Actually you are wrong Ron Paul voted against making MLK a holiday http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/96-1979/h578

I think you might be confusing his yes vote to his vote on the date change for MLK day http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/96-1979/h624

Facts are awesome. You should try using them
Most black South Africans voted against public holidays been created in honour of blacks who fought against apartheid and stood for something in the struggle...does that make them racist too?

Your logic is astounding Mr. PC vomiting..

Still remains that it would have been nice for Ron Paul to recognize a great man like MLK by voting yes to honor a day for him

He endorsed that hate speech though. His name is on the letterhead. The famed Libertarian passion for personal responsibility should apply here, no? cn
The irony of this being that purist Libertarians at the core want personal responsibility, but to be responsible to noone.

Its just one reason why purist Libertarianism couldn't work.

purist Libertarians? I think I know what your getting at, the biggest flaw with libertarianism, funnily enough that doesn't make libertarian arguments all in vain because they are all very good rational arguments so this argument is really for anarchy, the biggest flaw is that they argue for any government at all, the number one flaw in libertarianism is as I wrote in the other thread:

Well good thing libertarians waking up to the fact that governments are criminal organizations no matter how you slice it there is no one who will ever hold those with a monopoly on power accountable and monopolies of power with no accountability will only ever attract criminals.
This is the biggest flaw with libertarianism is that it inevitably creates the same monstrous government it opposes eventually.
but you know I would define that as purest libertarian, a person who recognizes this. By MY definition any 'purest libertarian' is really an anarchist at heart regardless if they admit it or not.
This flaw you mention is a flaw with the right wing corporate sponsored libertarian.
