someone explain vaporizers to me?

how do they work? i have heard of them. when we was in amsterdam, they had only just come out.

now i start to hear more positive stuff about them. ive never had a hit off one of them.

they dont leave a smell? or smoke? so i could smoke one in my car or house without leaving a trace?

ive seen some that are really expensive but also some that are like £13 and anything inbetween... whats the difference?

my buddy has a vape, the box kind with a tube for you to inhale.
gets me ripped but almost in a different way, a different high if you will.
they work by heating the weed but not burning it, and you inhale the THC vapors.
i would imagine the cheaper ones dont heat your weed right, and the expensive ones you can control the temp

but i seen somewhere that one of the vapes, u have to use a light.... thats burning it. wouldnt that just make it a bong?

ive never heard of a vape needing a light, i think that defeats the purpose.
