some Q's about equipment and set up

hi, was hoping to get some advice on what to do and if i have the right stuff to even do it.
i have:
1.2m x 1.2m x 2.0m tent
a 400 watt hps
with cool tube reflector
hydor himf 125mm extractor fan 2 speeds max 200cfm lowest 170cfm
going to just try with a passive intake but might invest in a small intake fan if i need it. basically what i want to know is this fan going to be enough to do the job of cooling the light and at the same time pull the air out of the tent. i plan to set it up with the fan in the tent so it will go Fan>cool tube> ducting>window out.

any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks ;)

not good with metric but I think its a 4x4 x6foot that's 96 sq ft your fan 2oo you be able to exchange your 2 times a minute should be good remember to get fan inside of tent to circulate air and to move plants to make strong rest should work ok if away from people if not I would think of a carbon filter or some other odor control you need to address

I have a smaller tent than yours and my temps never go above 78 degrees F.

I have a 400w HID, cool tube, a 220 cfm booster intake and blowing over the light. I have a fan inside the tent for ambient flow, I have a 440cfm extractor fan for exhaust which then passes through a carbon filter...no smell either.

hey guys thanks for the replies just exited the portal(tent) got lost in there for a few hours trying to position the fan in the best place to get good circulation, fingers crossed it'll hold when i turn on the hps i decided to not change the position of the extractor since it probably wont make alot of difference at this point as on paper it should be capable of shifting the air and cooling the bulb at the same time....right?.
thanks bseeds nice to have some confirmation. odor isnt really a worry at the moment im just trying to get it to work right now lol

slick, nice set up bkbuds, this however is where i start getting worried and confused so your using a fan double the power of what i have for a tent halt the size of mine, o_O having the carbon filter knocks a bit off but still basically double. so what do i do from here do i continue with what i have or do i need something more ? at the moment my extractor sucks the air from within the tent then over the bulb and out the room (that a right thing to do?) im at a loss i dont know whether its the equipment itself or just the placement.....should i just get a bigger fan ? will more cfm even help ? and here i thought putting it all into a tent would make it more manageable :(

HMMM...well, just my opinion...I think you should set up your equipment how you think it should be and plug it all in and check temps.

hey, good news borrowed a intake fan from a friend to help sort the problem seems to have done the job although its not perfect only just doable. temps are still a bit high like 26.5 right now..about 1 and a half more than outside. so i just bought a fan of comparable power for the intake but wanted your opinion again. the intake is a 4" 220m3h so i just bought a fan just as powerful at 220m3h max with 2speeds so can be lowered down to 160m3h my questions is do you think i should just get a bigger extractor just to be safe ? or am i worrying too much ? will the extra suck cause issues ? the bigger fan will be 260cfm on low and 345cfm on high. is it worth upping to the 6" for a bit more power or will i crumple my tent or other problems ?

as long as you can keep heat down with it a while running a carbon filter you should be fine but if you go to a bigger fan your need same size inlet hole not to suck your tent in. also without carbon filter it is hard to smoke your buds behind bars so keep your odor down

well im moving ahead with things now ive decided to just stick with what i got equipment wise, im going to run at night to help also means can put some more supplemental cfls in there too now since temps are good enough. well im not growing a huge amount to be too concerned with smell, im not on a main road where its very busy either, have neighbors immediately to my left but they doing some shit worse that growing a few plants and the next closest house is atleast 25-30 metres away and i think they're all tokers anyway. honestly i'm more worried about some scally wag trying to steal my produce than police. appreciate the responses guys glad i can move on with everything now you've been a great help ;)

you don't really need a inlet fan as long as you keep the inlet hole in tent from closing up with a good exhaust fan on you don't want negative pressure that will start to suck in your tent
