some pics to check out...roughly 5 weeks in

Hey folks!
Here are some pics of my first true hydro grow. I started around the third week of Oct. the dates should be on the pics the first pics wereon 10/28 and the others taken just last night. I have been growing them on Pro veg from botanicare under a 250 watt HPS 18/6. the larger of the two plants is a little over a foot with a stem a little thicker than a finger. Both have excellent internodal growth. I will be switching to bloom within the week. What do you folks think?

personaly id raise the smaller plants up nearer the light a bit to boost their height and try and get a more even grow height

Are those heat blankets from a first aid kit? That doesnt look like mylar.

You got it Muff! I was trying to find something that had a relective surface and it was pretty cheap too ( $1 at Wal-Mart). It does help to reflect some light, but not as good as mylar would be I suppose. I want to make some improvements to the grow area after the holidays so that is one of the items I want to pick up.

Last year I was trying to grow with soil and some crappy lights. This is my first grow in hydro with a HID light and I have to say that I have never seen plants grow that quick. Growing Hydro has been a great experience so far and I can't wait to see the plants when harvest time comes!

yeah, i was thinking the same thing -- serious afghan eh?

I'm not too sure...a friend of mine had told me that the seeds were AK-47,but I'm not too sure. Whatever the seeds were they are very healthy!!!

Somewhere on this site(the FAQ section I think) there is info on the reflectivity of various surfaces. Just to warn you, heat blankets were at the bottom. I used one before and they arent that effective. Any white surface is better than a heat blanket.

The chart looked something like this:

mylar-94% reflectivity
Flat whit paint-75-80%
foil-50%
heat blanket-30%

Dont quote me on those numbers but Im sure heat blankets were at the bottom.

yeah it was kind of an experiment to see if it would help reflectivity. after this grow I will be investing in some mylar.

Lower the light and put your hand near the top of the plants. If it's too hot then you raise it. It really looks to far away. Best of luck!

Dude im sure these have been smoked a long time ago much less grown.
