Well seeing as how the square cake crumbled and is now a mound in the FC I was really worried but this morning there is a sheen of white hairs beginning to envelope it so it may survive after all.

The two-liter is pure cottony goodness if it does fruit it'll drop a lot. I really hope they pin and soon

thats nice. I don't need someone telling me how to run an experiment. If I have a question I'll ask but just let it ride. I've got another culture of mycelium chugging away in a different location. <-- is by far not dumb. By the way this is not meant to be offensive I just like to make my own mistakes so can better learn from them.

Contamination has nothing to do with them growing on shit...Penicilin mold is all over the damn place and screws them up. Trey this once...Leave an open bag of bread on the counter and leave a closed bag on the counter...In a couple days the one will be moldy as hell and the other (closed one, obviously) won't have mold at all for weeks.

Just happened to me the other day. A bag of torilla shells got left out for two days, opened (they fell between the counter and I couldn't find them :P) and it had mold all over it when I found it two days later. The other bag was closed and it was fine.

ummmm what??? what kind of food do you eat to shit out dumbass questions? LOL jk
the reason i asked is because cattle receive various types of feed. some grass graze, some use grain feed as others use mixed low grade hay. the latter making the manure unusable for fertilizer etc. due to the fact it is mixed with some commercial by products and several types of seeds and just not very organic. so most of us farmers toss it because it produces invasive weeds, grasses and pollutes our land and water system.

so back to my "dumb ass question" i just wanted to know if the more organic the manure the better chance of having shroom development?

You don't necessarily need to use manure . the only manure in my substrate was potting soil and the potting soil only makes it hard for molds to penetrate it. But potting soil also holds very little nutrients for fungi.

use brown rice flower or rye seeds anything compost-vegetable matter. hell I even put coffee grounds and chex-mix in mine.

i wish i had the patience to "jar it". i'm working with the old school method cows, poo, then shrooms. i live on several acres of farmland. so i figured if i could feed the cows..... we have a few shrooms that pop up. i had mentioned in an earlier post the chemical by products in cheap feed kills/chokes out anything making an attempt to grow. i would love to be able to step outside and pick my own 'shroomies:hump:

Well throw a good cow pie or two into a pile dump some spores on it and cover it with hay or something. It'll probably work

im kinda getting sick of "jarring it" as well, maybe i should just go empty the cakes in a pile of rabbit compost and hey... i just don't like looking at the stuppid micylium every damn day to see it has hardly done crap. the teks make it seem like it takes a month from innoculation to harvest, turns out it takes almost as long as my bud, i figured this would be a lot less time intensive, thats why i did it, as my new 250 watt cab wont be up and running for a week or so and i am getting bored. watching fuzz grow is worse almost than not growing.

I tossed the 2-liter today. All the mycelium flattened out and disappeared. Inside was uncolonized. I am still holding out hope for the square cake but not much. I should be seeing severe primordia if not pinning by now and so far nothing. I rehydrated the cake and am waiting to see results.

yeah i guess chex mix and tin foil don't work? who would have thought? i dunno i was completely sterile and i still worry about contamination. you should check my thread though godkas, ive been asking questions but have no vetrans like you to help...

Day 5, got 7 cakes made with brown rice flour, vermiculite and water boiled in a big pan to sterilize. We'll see how it goes! I just checked em and 1 looks like it's starting to get fuzzy.. Love reading all the comments

Growing Shrooms can be tricky. I decided to try buying a kit to make thing a little easier. The one I am trying is called the MYG Kit from MYGTech.com so far so good.

Youre really keeping your head high if you think that you can get away with growing shrooms by half assing everything. Let me tell you Godkas, growing shrooms sucesfuly without loosing most if not all of you cultures takes work, theres no free lunch. Take that video in, it doesent tell you the "most optimal" grow method, instead it tells you THE basics of growing shrooms, FOLLOW IT! Once you get it down, growing shrooms is a peice of cake, but why do you think that vid STRESSES sterile procedure so much? Because its FUCKING IMPORTANT, and all those poor mushroom farmers in china do not get away with growing mushrooms without atleast Pasteurasation. Belive me ive been growing mushrooms for years, not only cubensis, but also Blue Oyster, King Oysters, King Stropharia, and Psilocybe Cyanofriscosa, both indoors and out. How do u think mushrooms make it outdoors with all these contams? Natural selection, thats how, thousands dont make it for every ones that do, which is not a risk a mushroom cultivator can take unless hes planning on wasting his money and loosing his crop, in all the time you spent fucking around you could have had REAL shrooms by now.
Just had to get that to all the doubters of that video, Read, Read, Read, then post so u dont sound like a fucktard.
