Some Help Please, Lighting Question??

Hello everyone,

I just finished my first grow and had a great time, learned a lot and now I have a couple ounces n I am stoked. Just one plant I grew ( Platinum OG kush ), looking to grow between 6-10 plants and I was wondering what watt HPS would be sufficient ? is 1000 watt overkill?

you're further along than me as I'm a few weeks from flowering my first grow but I would think there is no such thing as too much light.

recommended area coverage of a 400 watt HPS is 5 foot by 5 foot for best results. you can use it for an 8 foot by 8 foot area but will not be best results. so to make this post short.. depends on how bush your plants grow if you can fit 10 plants in a 5'x5' area with out blocking light from the other then you can use a 400 watt hps. if there bushy an will out grow the 5'x5' area go 1000 watt. as of how much a 1000 watt hps can handle area wise not sure.

Can't have too much light. If you have a big enough area to use a 1000 watt (6'X6' app.) and can cool it you'll be fine.

no 1000 watts will be fine,if its used right it wont hurt ya plants atall,,as long as it dont get too hot in ya grow room and you dont get it too close to ya plants youll be laughing,,,,peace

awesome, thanks for the input .... I will most likely use a 6X6 space so I am going to go 1000w, fuck it, gotta go all out baby ... got some sour x master seeds (10) that I scored a few months back from a sack I got from one of the clubs in my area.

yea if you have the loot deffinetly get the 1000 watt.. plants use lighting the most to grow.. if i had the loot id got HPS but for now fluors.

If you can control the heat, and you are growing 6-10 plants for 3-4 weeks of veg...

then 1000 is perfect....

If you are growing more plants.... with less veg time.. I would consider 2 - 600 watt lights... 600 watt lights can produce amazing nugs, yet they lack the penetration of the 1000...
