Some advice please!

Hey everyone, just started growing my first batch of marijuana (willy jack seeds). I'm using a 400w metal halide setup in a 4x4x7 (w / l / h) enclosed growroom. I planted 30 seeds 8 days ago after letting them soak in water overnight, and after leaving them in the warmth of the metal halide 24/7 and watering every day or every other day, only about 8 have entered the seedling stage and 5-6 showing radicals (however these are not growing nearly as quick as the seedlings). The temperature fluctuates between 80-84 and humidy stays relatively low (40-50%). I use a 4 in in-line fan from home depot to exhaust (but its not very strong at all). I also have a fan running to circulate the air. With all of this taken into consideration, I would greatly appreciate advice to the following quesitons:

What is the typical germination rate for seeds? What should I think about mine?

When do I start using fertilizer?

What kind of lighting schedule should i use right now as well as for veg, bloom etc. Also, is it true that lower # of light hours increases females? (ps: read this in ceventes horticulture bible)

When should I transplant and into what kinds of pots/soil? 2 gallon? The biggest seedling is about 3 inches right now

What kind of dried harvest weight am i looking towards?

Thank you everyone!!!!!! I'll update with more questions when I have them ^^

I vegged my 4 plants under 24 hours of light
i got 4 females.. so i wouldnt listen to that

to save elec with a 400w mh i would do an 18/6 schdule 18 hours on, 6 off.

nutes usually after 4 weeks, start low, 1/4th of the label directions and work your way up.

you want 1 gallon of pot space for each foot of growth. if you start 12/12 (flowering schdule) at 12 inches high.. it can be up to 3 feet. most people flower at 12 inches and use 3 gal pots.

harvest depends on alot of things and the only way you will know is when you have it dried infront of you. with good lighting a good estime for a 12 inch plat put in to flower you can expect maybe a few ounces per plant, but again this varies alot.

Dude, I got to be honest, it is my wife who has the fool proof method for germinating, and it works!, I'd be happy to share it with you, its too simple. She lays a wet paper towel on top of a paper plate, puts in the seeds, folds over the towel to cover the seeds, than places the plate into a freezer storage baggie, the type with the ziplock, than as she is zipping it up, she blows air into the baggie to expand it, and it behaves like a terrarium. Instead of the water evaporating, it re-circulates. In 48 hours all your seeds will be ready to go!
Keep warm, 85 sounds a bit too warm though. With this method she has never failed.

Thanks for the advice russor.

So I should do a 18/6 for both seedlings and veg?

Is my low humidity a major problem?

Since a lot of the seeds havent even sprouted yet and its already been 8-9 days, should I consider them goners?

Thanks again guys, cheers :joint:

All the info you need for a successfull grow can be found on the site. If truely interested do your home work and then ask questions as you go. That would be my suggestion for getting the most out of your experience here.

On another note your temp is to high and humidity to low

I've had my best grows at 76-80 degrees and 55-65% humidity.

Good luck!

low humidity is not a problem as i found the humidity goes up as they grow if its too dry get a bucket of water in there or spray/mist the air(away from electricity of course)
