Today I came to the realization that doing anything half-assed will cause you problems that could easily be prevented. Recently my plants were infected with powder mildew (downy mildew). After using Einstein Oil it was only under control. I have read about its uses and effects and it works well as a preventative but will not fix the problem. I used a sulfur burner and it neutralized the mildew.
Today upon inspection I realized that there was new mildew like powder developing on 2 separate plants on opposite sides of the room. After removing them and inspecting the leaves I have found they are Spider Mites. Interesting how under 160x magnification one leaf was populated by 6 very active mites. I mean they were running faster then I ever imagined a little mite was capable of. The second leaf had a single female who from what I can tell was laying eggs, tending to the young and laying a guide web. The mother was using the single strand to guide herself to the eggs. I watched a egg hatch which more looks like legs sprouting out and 2 red dots appearing on the front.

It was quite a learning experience. Since it was a lone female I am led to believe the Mature females are scouting out for prime hatching and feeding grounds I am going to have to reinspect for new hatcheries every couple hours.
I plan on using a Doctor Doom fogger tonight. In 3 days I was planning on spraying with Einstein Oil so the newly hatched mites wont be able to reproduce. I am looking for alternatives and preventives.
